The sunlight slanted across the land, slowly crawling into the hospital room through the window. The pale beams landed on Jack Hugh's sleeping profile; he had stayed up all night, too exhausted to straighten his back, and finally rested a bit at dawn.
The woman on the hospital bed had yet to awaken. The doctor said Jane had a concussion, two broken ribs, and scattered bruises on her body; these injuries would take at least a few months to heal respectively.
Rosie Scott pushed open the hospital room door and quietly walked to the bedside, her eyes reddening as she lowered her head.
She felt very guilty.
If it weren't for herself, Jane wouldn't have gotten involved with that crazy woman Isabella.
And what happened now wouldn't have occurred.
The young girl crouched on the ground, holding Jane's hand. She softly called, "Jane..."
Initially suppressing her voice, the girl was crying quietly. Perhaps she was too noisy, for Jane unexpectedly woke up in confusion.
