There's no room service at the bed and breakfast, so breakfast has to be eaten at a designated spot; as Rosie Scott and Jane were getting ready to go downstairs for breakfast, they ran into Carey.
Today, he was wearing a silver-grey shirt, and his black suit pants made his legs look straight. The man, with his deep-set eyes under high brows, intentionally glanced at Rosie Scott, but he didn't greet her. Even as Jane reached out to invite this big client to join them for breakfast, she had to swallow her words upon seeing his cold demeanor.
"Strange, yesterday he was so considerate to you, but today he's like a stranger. Rich people have such peculiar tempers." If it were anyone else, Jane would have already gone up to educate them, but since it's a client, she could only mumble to herself.
Rosie Scott pursed her lips, thinking to herself, did she unknowingly offend the client?
As she silently walked behind Jane, Jane suddenly turned and looked at her, noticing her sluggish manner: "Did you really go for a morning run? Why does it seem like you're walking funny?"
The girl was at a loss, gritting her teeth to endure the pain and pretended to walk calmly. Yet, in Jane's eyes, she still seemed peculiar, as she squinted and scrutinized the girl's trembling legs.
"I ran, but accidentally slipped, did a split, and pulled a muscle."
Jane, with her keen eyes, wouldn't let it slide, clicking her tongue, "Your profile mentions you do classical dance, it's unlikely that just doing a split would injure you."
"Sis, it was because I didn't warm up first. Even professional dancers can get injured if they don't warm up." The girl wiped the sweat that had gathered on her forehead, finally managing to fool Ms. Lindsey.
Once they reached the breakfast spot, and were able to sit down, Rosie Scott realized she needed to buy some medicine, but the Ancient Village was economically backward, and even the nearest pharmacy was an hour's drive away.
Jane took out the script from her bag, sipping her porridge as she said, "You have a scene tomorrow, I'll help you go over your lines today. I spoke with your teacher at school, she said you're a talented kid."
Rosie Scott felt a bit awkward, reminded of the time Jane filmed a video of her which nearly ruined her.
"Ms. Lindsey, the video last time felt rushed, otherwise I definitely would have done better, plus I majored in acting, so I'm not very good at videography."
Jane interrupted her with a raised hand: "Your concept is wrong. Do you know why many talented actors in the entertainment industry also have research in cinematography?"
"Because only by understanding the camera positions can they better control their performance."
"So, having good acting skills alone isn't enough, you also have to study cinematography to walk further down this path."
Rosie Scott was enlightened by Jane's words; after breakfast, the two found a wide-open space and started rehearsing their lines.
Jane was someone with high work demands, and she somehow borrowed a camera, setting it up right in front of Rosie Scott: "After shooting a take, check it yourself."
The first scene was Evelyn Namgon and her senior Leonard descending the mountain for a night hunt, mostly involving action scenes, and importantly, Evelyn's hidden feelings for her senior Leonard portrayed subtly.
Overall, there were just a few lines, but the martial arts action alone was estimated to take three to five days to shoot.
The crew had professional martial arts instructors who would guide the actors during filming to complete the required moves.
Unless the action was incredibly difficult, actors would be notified to train in advance, otherwise they would generally learn on set.
Now, setting aside those moves, they needed to deliver the lines well in this life's first scene.
Rosie Scott put down the script; she had a great memory and quickly remembered the lines, gently bowing her head, seemingly adjusting her emotions.
Jane noticed the girl in front of the camera signaling an okay gesture, promptly pressing the record button.
After Evelyn Namgon and Leonard wrestled with the Millennium Fox Demon for a long time, they finally cooperatively captured the Fox Demon.
As they walked through the forest, Evelyn Namgon gathered her courage and asked, "Senior brother, what kind of partner will you seek in the future?"
This question contained the girl's yearning and bashfulness for her first love, even though Evelyn Namgon was already the Demon Lord of the Dark Realm, at this moment beside Leonard, she was no different from a little girl.
Jane, playing opposite, thus lowered her voice to say Leonard's lines off-camera: "A partner is optional."
After hearing this, Evelyn Namgon pursed her lips and pursued, "I guess your future partner will surely be someone who can walk alongside you, right senior brother?"
This was the girl's little thought; the reason she asked was because she had been night hunting with her senior brother for years, practicing the same martial arts, making her the most suitable partner.
However, Leonard hadn't considered Evelyn Namgon among his partner choices, only casually stating, "A partner doesn't necessarily need to have cultivation equal to mine, as long as they're suitable."
Upon hearing her senior brother's words, Evelyn Namgon's expression subtly changed, realizing he never thought of having her as his partner, angrily returning to Spirit Hill. Her senior brother didn't mind.
In the brief minutes of rehearsal, perhaps due to the presence of a camera, both of them were exceptionally serious.
When finished, they heard applause from the side and both Jane and Rosie Scott turned their gazes toward it.
It was the veteran actor Eugene Willow; he was dressed in a black Zhongshan suit, often starring in martial arts films, and despite nearing fifty, walked lightly, evidence of his deep martial arts skills.
He had a celestial aura, with high-arched eyebrows and a clear gaze. His voice when speaking was neither hurried nor slow: "I was in the woods practicing Tai Chi, heard someone rehearsing, and wanted to join the fun."
Jane held great respect for Eugene Willow, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. Gaining personal guidance from him was more valuable than taking many classes at school.
"Mrs. Willow, it's great that you're here to help us spot any shortcomings and guide my artiste."
"It's not quite guidance; I was just here to watch." Eugene Willow waved his hand modestly.
Rosie Scott smiled along at the side; she vaguely remembered that during the kick-off meal, Eugene Willow wasn't someone fond of smiling.
The three of them gathered in front of the camera to review the video just recorded; after watching Rosie Scott's performance, Jane felt reassured. She indeed was talented; some people were naturally photogenic, and once in front of the camera, their features became pronounced—having an expressive face was a rare talent.
Eugene Willow, after watching, smiled at Rosie Scott: "Little girl, you have a pair of expressive eyes, make good use of them, otherwise it's a waste."
The girl pursed her lips, eagerly awaiting Eugene Willow's next words.
"Ever liked anyone?"
Rosie Scott nodded, then hesitated, shaking her head slightly: "Does liking an idol count?"
"How can that count? Have you ever had someone you thought of day and night, someone you desperately wanted to be with?" Eugene Willow raised an eyebrow, suppressing a laugh as he asked.
"Ah!?"
