The nurse wanted to chat a bit more with Yang Ping, but Xia Shu, the chief surgeon, spoke up while performing surgery: "Professor, long time no see. You've been busy lately."
Yang Ping said: "It's you guys who are busy. You're cooped up in the operating room from morning till night. I start work at seven in the morning, but you're at the department by six. I leave around five or six in the afternoon, and you usually don't finish until after ten. We're perfectly on opposite schedules. If we hadn't come to see you today, we probably wouldn't have met all year."
Xia Shu lifted his head and thought it was true. Since he became deputy director at the Cardiac Surgery Department, it has always been like this. He pours all his energy into surgery, leaving all the small daily chores for his wife Cai Qiaojun to handle, so there's nothing for him to worry about.
"Yeah, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it. Our schedules really are perfectly mismatched," Xia Shu said.
