Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Preparation for the Unknown

Morning sunlight spilled across the field outside the Sage's cabin as Yuuya stood near the fence, staring toward the massive forest beyond.

Dark, silent and endless.

"…Alright."

Today was the day.

For the first time—

He planned to actually explore the forest itself, not just train near the barrier. Not just fight monsters that wandered close.

He was going in.

But first—

Preparation Yuuya headed back inside the cabin immediately.

"If I'm going into a place filled with monsters like Bloody Ogres and Hell Slimes…"

He opened cabinets and storage areas while thinking out loud.

"…Then I should prepare properly."

The kitchen quickly became busy again. Yuuya started making large amounts of food using ingredients from both worlds.

Rice balls, cooked meat and Vegetable dishes made from the Sage's absurd crops. Even extra drinks using the Infinite Watering Can's holy water.

One after another, everything disappeared into his [Item Box].

"…This skill really is convenient."

No weight. No storage limits, No spoilage damn Honestly, it felt broken.

Then—

Yuuya's eyes drifted toward the herbs from the garden.

Specifically—

The Complete Recovery Herb.

"…I wonder…"

A thought formed in his mind.

A little while later—

A small pot boiled over the stove Yuuya carefully placed pieces of the herb into the water.

"…I'm basically just making tea at this point."

He honestly had no idea what he was doing.

But somehow—

The moment the herb touched the water, the liquid began glowing faintly green.

"…Huh?"

The smell changed instantly, fresh, clean and powerful soothing smell, reached his nose and filled his lungs.

Using [Appraisal], Yuuya examined the result.

[Complete Recovery Potion]:: A potion capable of instantly healing wounds and restoring stamina. Created using Complete Recovery Herbs.

"…You're kidding."

Yuuya stared at the screen in disbelief.

"I literally just boiled water…"

Still—

A grin spread across his face.

"…I'll take it."

Before long, several bottles of recovery potion had been made and safely stored inside his [Item Box]. Once everything was prepared, Yuuya finally sat down for a moment.

"…Food, supplies, weapons, potions…"

He nodded slowly.

"…That should be enough."

Then—

His eyes drifted toward the calendar sitting near the table.

"…Hm?"

Yuuya paused thinking carefully.

"…Wait."

A realization hit him.

"There's only a week left before school starts again…"

Silence filled the room for a moment after everything that happened recently—

The other world, monsters, new skills and meeting Kaori.

Training—

He had almost completely forgotten about school.

"…Seriously…"

Yuuya leaned back with a sigh.

"…I guess I should probably go back soon."

Not permanently, not anymore.

But—

Even with all this power—

His life in Japan still existed and in exactly one week—

That life would start moving again. Yuuya stared quietly toward the door connecting both worlds.

"…This is going to get complicated…"

Yuuya leaned back in his chair, staring at the calendar for another moment.

"…One week left…"

Honestly, after everything that had happened recently, school felt strangely distant now almost unreal.

Still—

He couldn't ignore it forever.

"…I should at least prepare."

Grabbing a notebook from nearby, Yuuya started writing down everything he needed before classes started again.

New school uniform

Shoes that actually fit

School supplies

Bag

Phone accessories

Maybe a laptop

Yuuya paused briefly.

"…And probably clothes in general."

With how much his body had changed, almost nothing from before fit him anymore.

Not to mention—

Showing up looking completely different was probably going to cause problems on its own.

"…That's going to be annoying…"

Still, compared to fighting monsters?

It almost sounded relaxing after finishing the list, Yuuya tore the page out carefully and folded it into his pocket.

"…I'll deal with it later."

Right now—

There was something far more important: the forest. Yuuya stood and walked toward the door once more. The moment he crossed over into the other world, the atmosphere shifted instantly.

Cool air and dense air the distant sounds of creatures moving somewhere beyond the trees.

Stepping outside the cabin, Yuuya looked toward the massive forest stretching endlessly before him. Dark shadows moved between ancient trees even from here, he could feel dangerous presences lurking deeper inside.

But instead of fear—

Excitement built in his chest.

The Absolute Spear appeared in his hand with a flash of light. The Black Moon Necklace rested comfortably around his neck.

Supplies, potions, and food sat safely inside his [Item Box] Yuuya took a slow breath.

"…Alright."

For the first time—

He stepped beyond the safety of the barrier willingly and began walking into the forest.

The moment Yuuya stepped fully into the forest—

He started running.

BOOM.

The ground cracked beneath his feet as he accelerated instantly. Trees blurred past his vision, wind roared against his face.

"…Fast!"

Even while holding back, his speed was absurd. Every leap carried him dozens of meters forward, his body moving almost effortlessly through the dense forest terrain.

Then—

Without thinking—

Yuuya activated [Flash Step].

The world seemed to distort for a split second.

And suddenly—

He was somewhere else entirely.

"…WHA—"

Yuuya nearly stumbled.

"That's way faster than I expected!"

He laughed despite his excitement surged through him as he continued rushing deeper into the forest.

Hours passed.

And before long—

The monsters came and a pack of goblins burst from the trees with sharp screeches, crude weapons raised high.

Yuuya didn't stop moving the Absolute Spear thrust forward instantly.

THRASH!

One goblin was blown backward before the others even realized what happened. Yuuya twisted smoothly into another strike, the spear spinning through the air with increasing precision.

"…I'm getting used to this."

Another goblin lunged toward him—

But Yuuya's body moved automatically, a sidestep, a sweep then a crushing thrust. The monster collapsed instantly.

Then—

More appeared. Larger figures stepped from deeper within the forest.

Ogres.

[Forest Ogre]

"…Perfect."

This time—

Yuuya switched weapons mid-fight the Absolute Spear vanished and the Omni-Sword appeared instantly in his hand. The difference immediately felt closer range, sharper movement and cleaner strikes.

Yuuya surged forward.

The blade flashed once—

Then twice the ogre's massive arm slid cleanly from its body a second slash split through its chest before it could even roar.

"…Okay."

Yuuya exhaled slowly.

"…That sword is completely unfair."

But there was no time to rest as more monsters rushed toward him from the trees.

This time—

Yuuya jumped backward and raised his hand and the Formless Bow materialized instantly. A glowing arrow formed automatically against the string.

"…Whoa…"

The weapon felt weightless and naturally Yuuya fired the arrow.

Not flew—

Vanished.

A distant explosion echoed through the forest several seconds later. Trees shook violently in the distance.

"…I definitely overdid that."

Still—

A grin spread across his face, hours continued passing as Yuuya fought monster after monster throughout the forest.

Goblins, wolves, ogres, strange bird-like creatures, even massive insect monsters.

And with every battle—

He improved his movements and became smoother, cleaner and more efficient. The weapons no longer felt unfamiliar.

They felt like extensions of his own body.

Sweat coated him as he stood atop a fallen monster, breathing steadily while the forest around him slowly grew quiet again.

"…This…"

Yuuya looked down at his hands then at the weapons.

"…This is actually fun."
