Sitting down meditating right outside of Machi's small trash hut, Loki was finally going to attempt to create his own Hatsu.
Ever since his last fight against the gang, he had been thinking about creating one constantly. It had been four months of training his basics, and seeing a Hatsu up close left him feeling confident.
He now had a lot of experience using Nen and felt he could make an ability that best suited him.
Although he had his other techniques, the fight with the gang member made him feel intuitively how strong a person's Hatsu can be.
Even a relatively simple Hatsu with seemingly no rules or conditions left him feeling remarkably restrained without a unique ability of his own.
With each Hatsu being a representation of a user's individuality, Hatsu abilities tend to be incredibly diverse and sometimes even restrictive.
This leads to situations in high-level fights, where opponents must determine the rules and conditions of the enemy's Hatsu before attempting a finishing blow.
He actually could have done the water divination test much earlier than today, but he hadn't wanted to tempt himself to make a Hatsu without a better understanding of aura.
'Transmutation….' Loki thought to himself.
Loki's thoughts ran extremely fast as he began to think of some of the Transmutation abilities he knew of from the series.
The most famous would be Killua, Biscuit, and Hisoka.
Killua's Hatsu Godspeed, while great, wasn't a viable reference for him. Killua's Hatsu worked by simulating his aura to replicate electricity, with the downside being that every time he used his ability, he would be getting electrocuted.
Unless Loki wanted to spend years torturing himself with a particular element until he was resistant enough to use it, it was pointless to think about it.
Biscuit's use of Transmutation was actually incredibly subtle, yet it provided significant benefits.
Biscuit had discarded the idea of transmuting her aura and instead opted to transmute her own body. By transmuting her own body, Biscuit was capable of completely changing her body shape and height.
Another benefit of this special form of Transmutation was the ability to compress one's own muscle density to an extreme level. This, when combined with enhancement, gave extreme brute strength.
Loki even imagined that the Zoldyck's might have their own form of this with their ability to morph their limbs.
Hisoka was the most prominent example of the versatility of Transmutation. By transforming his aura to have the properties of both rubber and gum, he had incredible combat versatility.
Its extreme durability, flexibility, and adhesive properties make it an exceptionally versatile material with several offensive, defensive, and supplementary applications.
Texture Surprise, where he can coat his aura on any flat surface to change its appearance and texture, worked wonders in his hands.
Whether by disguising his injuries or fake information, Hisoka used his ability to perfection.
It was a truly all-around ability that gave Hisoka all-around abilities and was something that Loki had to take into consideration.
With this in mind, Loki decided to think of an ability that genuinely embodied him. Nen is a very spiritual power system and can grow with the user, so finding something closer to himself would be beneficial in the long run.
In this life, Loki did not want to block his way to a higher scenery due to a poor choice he had made now.
Deciding to look back at himself, Loki thought of the time when he was in school, studying hard with hope for the future.
The time that he had everything taken away from him by Hector. The mental demons that haunted him as he vented his fury towards the world.
He thought of his time training in the underworld for revenge. The hologram tech that had made him succeed but had also ushered in his demise.
Finally, he thought of his death.
The moonlight flowing through the window as he thought of his pathetic ending after finally getting his revenge.
As he lamented his sad fate, he remembered what he had always done in moments of despair.
He got back up and continued climbing
Even when Hector had knocked him back down to zero. Even with setback after setback.
He climbed once again, pushing through everything and everyone in his way so that one day, he would reach that unattainable view on the throne in the sky.
And that day, he would look down on it all, seeing everything and everyone he had pushed down behind him to reach this view.
At that moment, Loki had figured out what he wanted.
Opening his eyes, he stood up before taking off his mask and glanced at the night sky.
Staring at the starry sky, with the cold moonlight beaming down on his face, he smiled.
It wasn't a warm smile, but one full of pure greed and longing for the unknown.
Loki admitted he was anything but a good person, but he was pure in his goals. A pure egoist who did everything according to his whims and feelings.
And often, this was the most terrifying type of person.
Around him, his aura seemed to surge a couple of times.
It took a while but soon, his aura surrounded him with a soft shimmer to it, but Loki knew it was just a gimmick.
A gimmick formed by the imagination of all who stare not at its face, but the mask it presented itself with.
This wasn't a Hatsu... Not yet, but it was a direction towards one. It was his own proof of concept.
Using his knowledge of air pressure and magnets he learned while engineering had helped a lot when starting out with a project as ambitious as this.
He started by visualizing his aura as a constant outward pressure that he could reflect attack with. Continuing he refined this by imagining the aura as a water like film, and a pressure that pushed things away.
It wasn't perfect but his aura was able to adapt to the properties of repulsion. Something that was tangible, and something unstoppable.
Loki grinned, the corners of his mouth twitching madly.
A thin veil of aura wrapped around his body like armor as he stepped forward, carefully.
The air around him shivered slightly.
Bits of trash slid softly away from his path. Crushed cans rolled and loose paper fluttered.
No explosion and no crashes. Just a subtle push outward.
It was like the objects in his path simply moved out away from him.
Controlling his aura a bit before continuing, he began to lower his hands as he looked at a broken glass bottle half-buried in the dirt.
He took a step closer and extended a single finger, coating it with his new transmuted aura. With a slow exhale, he gently tapped the jagged bottle.
*SFX* Ffft.
The shard jerked backward a few feet and came to a stop, skittering on the gravel.
No dramatic flare. No echoing boom.
But it had worked as he'd hoped.
He repeated the process again on a dented tin plate, then on a loose brick, adjusting the pressure each time.
Some objects simply shifted slightly. Others were launched farther.
He was fine-tuning the force, gauging how much aura was needed, how fast it burned. Loki wanted to figure out the exact perimeters.
How could he use his ability to perfection without first understanding it to perfection.
Then he crouched down and placed his palm on the ground.
A ripple of force spread in a soft circle around him, displacing pebbles and dust in a perfect ring, like a silent pulse of rejection.
He watched it all with a cold smile that met his eyes.
He stood again and pulled his mask back into place. The pure white mask's smile glinted under the moonlight.
"This is it…This is the feeling…"
His voice was a whisper, like a secret between him and the ever-brilliant moon.
His aura stilled, and the trash settled.
Meteor City continued on undisturbed, unaware of the newest monster birthed from within the piles of trash.
Loki walked back to the hut without a sound, the faintest swirl of aura trailing behind his steps.
"It's going to be different this time... I can feel it." Loki muttered to himself with a grin behind his mask.

Hatsu Name: Imaginary Gimmick
Nen Type: Transmuter
Description:
Loki transmutes his aura to mimic the property of repulsion, allowing him to control a repulsive force around his body. This repulsion-based aura can repel and interact with physical matter, energy, and even aura-based techniques, depending on its intensity. It's a method of transmuting his aura to apply pure directional pressure, which he can shape, strengthen, or weaponize.
Core Techniques - (None Currently)
(This will be updated as things change. I do want to stress that his Hatsu isn't even technically made, and the above is more for its full form. It currently has little to no combat ability and he is unable to detach it from himself. He will have to train for a good amount of time before being able to use it for anything tangible. I would love to hear your guys thoughts of what you think of his current Hatsu and limitations.)
