The defeated should not become an obstacle for the undefeated.
Immortality is self-centric, it is singular. If there are multiple immortalities within the Guiding Star, it would mean that there are multiple different 'Ians' as masters.
However, the Guiding Star does not need many masters, just 'the one now'—the only, eternal 'Ian' of the present. As for the defeated Ian, they have voluntarily relinquished the name Ian, they are now dead and thus will not linger as Lost Souls to haunt the next one.
"I see."
Slowly opening his eyes, Ian exhaled a breath, clenched his fist, and murmured: "Every Ian believes they will win... even if they are dead, they have not given up this 'hope'."
"We all hope for Ian to achieve the final victory, and for this victory, we would even sacrifice ourselves, strip away our uniqueness, to prevent our proven failed immortality from affecting the latter selves."
"But all of me..."
