This was much the same question as 'Second Prince Michael' once posed to Ian.

Ian couldn't give an answer back then because he didn't fully understand Terra's current situation.
But now, he can give an answer.
"Ordinary people don't need a meaning. They need to study—haven't even finished their studies, yet thinking about the meaning of life?"
"Like you and me, just a few years old, and already reminiscing about the past? Let's all look to the far future first."
Ian said earnestly, "If the Heart of Terra replaces all people's jobs, then everyone should go and study for me!"
