'I will be careful with her, no need to worry.'
At ten Alec and I headed towards the training ground. It was filled with pack members and warriors who were waiting for the duel. I swear to the Moon Goddess, If I fail and embarrass myself today, I'm never leaving my house again. Ara came to us as soon as she saw us. 'Hey, what's this I'm hearing? Who is she?' she asked. 'Alec's ex-girlfriend who, can't seem to get over the fact that he has found his mate.' 'Can't you keep your ex in check?' she scoffed at Alec, 'If any harm comes on Savannah, I will forget that you are the Alpha and deal with you accordingly.' Knowing Ara, she was being serious, and she could do something that will get her into trouble. 'It's okay Ara, I'll be fine, I promise,' I said to calm her. 'You better, before I commit murder.'
I thought that we were going for a hand combat fight and no weapons, but I saw Camilla with a sword, walking towards the centre, the smirk never leaving her lips. A warrior came and handed me a sword and motioned me towards where Camilla was. 'Silver swords? really?' I said to her with disbelief. 'Yes, this isn't a sparring match remember, it's a duel and I want to win,' she scoffed, 'mine has wolfsbane too, so I hope you have a good dodging game.' She truly is determined to win this game. I can't believe she chose silver swords and even took one with wolfsbane. Werewolves have a thick skin and only silver can pierce through our skin. Wolfsbane burns our skins, and it takes time to heal when someone has come in contact with the chemical. I really need to be careful with her, I could see the hatred she had for me in her eyes.
Our eyes locked, each filled with an intense determination to prove our strength to the other. The rising sun reflected on my sword as I readied myself to strike. I crouched low, my lupine instincts sharpening my reflexes. Camilla's sword was humming with dark energy, as she circled me, her movements graceful yet predatory. With a fierce growl, I lunged forward, my sword slashing through the air. Camilla swiftly parried, our blades clashing with a shower of sparks. The sound of metal meeting metal echoed through the training ground, harmonizing with our snarls.
Thanks to my agility, I was able to dodge Camilla's retaliatory strike, narrowly voiding the blade aimed at my side. I twisted mid-air, landing with a somersault and launched myself towards Camilla once more. Our swords became a blur of deadly arcs and parries as we exchanged lightning-fast strikes. My wolf reflexes and strength proved advantageous, but Camilla's deep hatred infused her blows with a lethal edge.
Sensing an opportunity, I unleashed a powerful howl, channeling my werewolf abilities. The ground beneath us quaked as the primal energy surged through me, increasing my speed and strength.
Camilla, undeterred, met my heightened aggression with her own strength. Her strikes carried an otherworldly force, fueled by the arcane energy she harnessed as a werewolf warrior.
As the clash continued, my blade hummed with a vibrant light, the weapon pulsating with my inner lunar energy. Each swing carried the weight of my determination to protect my title and claim victory. Camilla, her eyes gleaming with unholy hatred, seemed like she conjured hatred of energy into her blade and charged towards me. With my werewolf instincts, I twisted my body, evading her attack, and retaliated with a powerful swipe of my sword. The silver sword sliced through the air, finding its mark across Camilla's arm, leaving a searing wound.
It seemed like the pain only charged Camilla's rage. She launched herself towards me, a storm of dark energy swirling around her. The training ground seemed to tremble in response, the surrounding trees quivering as if caught in a tempest. But I was not one to be easily overpowered. Drawing upon my inner strength, I mustered a final surge of energy. With a powerful roar, I unleashed a mighty strike, my silver sword finding its mark. Camilla's defenses shattered, her energy dissipating into the morning air.
The battle came to a halt as my sword rested against Camilla's chest, slightly piercing into her skin. Breathing heavily, we locked our eyes, a mix of respect and exhaustion passing between us. The duel had tested our limits and proved our strengths. As the sun continued its rising, the training ground fell dead silent, our conflict settled for now. I lowered my blade, extending a hand to Camilla. I didn't understand if this duel had made us friends or worse enemies.
My gaze softened, my wolfish features morphing back into my human form. She followed suit, her own transformation reverting her to her original state. '' We cannot continue down this path,'' I spoke, my voice laced with exhaustion. '' Our battles serve no purpose but to tear us apart.'' Camilla's chest rose and fell as she steadied her breathing. The pain etched across her face mirrored the conflict within her. She extended her hand, accepting my gesture of truce.
'' You are right,'' she conceded, her voice strained. ''Our strength is wasted in perpetual conflict. There are greater threats that demand our attention.'' Our eyes locked for a lingering moment, a silent understanding passing between us. The rivalry that had consumed us for the past few days began to crumble, replaced by a shared resolve to protect our kind from external dangers.
Together, we turned our attention towards the crowd that had gathered around the training ground. They had been so silent focusing on our duel that I had almost forgotten they were around. As we approached them, the sounds of cheering and excitement filled the air. They were jubilant, celebrating the thrilling sword fight that had occurred. Among them stood Alec and Ara.
''I'm still getting a higher rank in the pack though,'' Camilla said jokingly. ''Oh, you sure are, you almost dethroned me back there,'' I replied with enthusiasm, '' I could use your strength in taking care of the pack.'' Camilla was, indeed, a great warrior and she could train the warriors of the pack and help ton build a strong team in case there is an attack from rogues or other packs. But still, it was up to Alec to decide on who to put on whatever position. '' Given my behaviour recently, I don't think Alec would still want me in this pack let alone giving me a higher rank.''
I thought so too. Camilla had threatened his mate and that was like signing a death warrant in the werewolf world. No werewolf especially the Alphas would want to see their mates in any danger or threat.'' I'll put in a good word for you, don't worry.''
My adrenaline was still pumping from the intense battle, but as I approached Alec and Ara, my focus shifted to the comforting presence of them. A mix of relief and exhilaration shone on my features as I embraced Ara as she had also approached me, Alec following right behind. My breathing was still heavy from the fight. Alec held me close, and I could sense his strong and protective demeanour as I trembled against him. '' You were incredible,'' he whispered into my ear, pride evident in his voice. '' I've never seen you fight before.''
A smile tugged at my lips; my heart warmed by Alec's unwavering support. ''It was a fierce battle, and I had to give it my all,' I replied, my voice tinged with exhaustion. '' Camilla is a formidable opponent.''
Ara, with her vibrant and spirited personality, chimed in, '' You were both amazing out there if I am being honest! It was like watching a legendary duel from our ancestors' tales.'' I chuckled, grateful for her light-heartedness. If anything had happened to me, I knew she would have gone berserk on Camilla and even Alec. '' I don't know about legendary, but it was definitely intense.'' As we shared a moment of camaraderie, my mind briefly shifted to my recent truce with Camilla. I hoped this newfound alliance would bring peace and strengthen our pack against the lurking threats we faced.
''You know,'' Alec began, his eyes twinkling with affection, ''I had doubted your strength at first, but this morning, you truly showed the depth of your power.'' I was a bit hurt that he had doubted me, but I pushed it aside. My cheeks flushed with a mix of bashfulness and gratitude. I always appreciated people's belief in me even when I doubted myself. Ara's unwavering support had been my pillar of strength.
Ara playfully nudged my shoulder. '' Well, now that the fight is over, how about we celebrate this victory? The day has just begun!''
I grinned, feeling a renewed sense of elation. '' You're right.''
Hand in hand with Alec and with Ara close by my side, I re-entered the lively crowd. The cheers of our packmates resonated with a newfound sense of unity, celebrating not just the thrilling fight but the bond that held us together as a pack. In the midst of the joyous celebration, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the pack members surrounding me. With the sun almost high in the sky, I knew that our strength, loyalty, and enthusiasm would continue to guide them through whatever challenges lay ahead.
As the sun rose high in the sky, casting its warm rays upon the ancient forest clearing, the pack had gathered once again to celebrate the newfound unity. The excitement and joy that had filled the air under the sunlight continued to resonate as the packmates enjoyed the brightness of the day.
I sat together with Alec under the shade of a large oak tree, basking in the warmth of each other's presence. Alec gently brushed a strand of hair away from my face, his eyes filled with love and admiration.
"You were magnificent out there," he said, his voice tender as he gazed at me, "I'm so proud of you."
My heart swelled with affection as I leaned into his embrace. "Thank you," I replied softly. "But I couldn't have done it without your support. You're my rock, Alec."
Ara, ever the life of the party, approached us with a grin on her face. "Hey lovebirds, care to join the dancing?" she teased, playfully nudging me. I laughed, feeling a lightness in my heart that I hadn't felt in a long time. "You bet! Let's join the fun," i said, standing up and pulling Alec and Ara along with me.
The clearing was alive with laughter and merriment as the werewolves danced and celebrated under the vibrant canopy of the forest. The rivalry that had threatened to divide us was now a distant memory, replaced by a deep bond forged in battle and unity.
As the pack danced and laughed together, Camilla approached me with a genuine smile on her face. "You fought well," she said, her voice laced with sincerity. "I'm glad we could find common ground." I returned the smile, feeling a sense of peace settle between us. "Me too," I replied. "Together, we're stronger." Camilla nodded in agreement, her eyes glancing towards the rest of the pack. "Indeed, we are," she said, a hint of pride in her voice.
The celebration continued well into the day, with werewolves of all ages and ranks coming together as one cohesive unit. The bond that had been forged through their shared experiences brought a sense of harmony and belonging to the pack.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the forest, the pack gradually dispersed, returning to the pack house to rest and prepare for the adventures that awaited us.
Under the moonlit sky, Alec, Ara and I sat together once more, reflecting on the events of the day. The camaraderie, unity, and shared enthusiasm for our kind had created an even more unbreakable bond among us.
As the stars twinkled above, we knew that our journey was just beginning, and together, we would face the challenges that lay ahead. With love, loyalty, and the unwavering support of the pack, we were ready to embrace the future and protect the world we held dear.
And so, we howled into the night, our voices merging into a harmonious chorus that echoed through the forest, a symbol of the unyielding spirit and enthusiasm that bound us together as a united pack. We said goodnight to Ara at the pack house as we retired to Alec's room. The day had drained me, and I just wanted to rest my body. As I laid next to Alec, finding solace in his scent, I drifted off with a smile and hoped for a bright future together.
