Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Fooling Marsh Smith

Bess Bennett sat on the ground, stunned from the slap.

Oliver Wright ignored her and continued speaking to Amelia Wright, "I'll announce the divorce today. Tomorrow, at the Jade and Gold Pavilion auction, you'll attend with me and make a statement."

Oliver Wright was always decisive; Bess Bennett had been with him for years but could be discarded as a pawn without hesitation.

Amelia Wright chuckled lightly, "I'll go there if I see your divorce announcement."

The Wright family members watched in silence.

Everyone found it unbelievable—was this still the adopted daughter that anyone could bully?

At Wright family gatherings, Amelia Wright was treated like a servant, serving tea and water. As an adopted daughter, she didn't even have the right to dine at the main table.

Yet now, she dared to let the head of the Wright family's second house divorce his wife.

This was simply inconceivable!

Once the matter was settled, no one spoke further. Amelia Wright turned and walked away, the sound of her high heels tapping on the ground.

Bess Bennett listened to the suffocating sound, finally realizing that Amelia Wright was truly beyond her control.

How did it come to this?

Was it because Amelia Wright married into the Shaw family?

Bess Bennett remembered how she had forcibly sent Amelia Wright into the Shaw family, and in her fury, she spat out a mouthful of blood.

The Wright family members hurriedly called for a doctor.

No one noticed that Mina Wright, the daughter of the main house, had chased after Amelia Wright.

Mina Wright chased after her and shouted, "Amelia, stop! What do you mean by this? Marsh was injured because of you, and you haven't even visited him."

Amelia Wright sneered, "Mina, are you mistaken about the situation? You like Marsh Smith but fight with Ava Wright instead of throwing a tantrum at me."

Mina Wright pointed to the thermos in Amelia's hand, "Don't fool me; you're carrying a thermos, so you must intend to deliver soup to Marsh. Marsh is at First Hospital right now, so go and visit him."

Amelia Wright raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding the situation.

Marsh Smith had frequently appeared at the Wright family due to Ava Wright.

Faced with a gentle, handsome, and wealthy man, it was easy for young girls to develop feelings, and Mina Wright was one of them.

Mina Wright never thought much of her; she was always fighting for attention with Ava Wright. Whenever she got close to Marsh, Mina would arrogantly tell her to get lost.

Now, Mina Wright proactively asked her to visit Marsh. This seemed off.

Amelia Wright suddenly thought, "Did Marsh ask you to tell me that?"

Mina Wright, lacking tact, was directly exposed by Amelia, causing her to panic and quickly retort, "Of course not! Who do you think you are? Marsh would never value you that much."

"If he doesn't value me, why should I visit him?"

"Just say whether you're going to visit him or not." Mina was exasperated.

Amelia Wright suddenly laughed, "Alright, tell Marsh that I'll go visit him."

Only then did Mina Wright breathe a sigh of relief, hurried back to the Wright family villa, and informed Marsh.

"Marsh, Amelia said she's coming to see you. This woman is so infuriating. She's obviously carrying a thermos with soup, meaning she intended to see you. Can she really drink the soup herself? Watching me plead, she still acts high and mighty, it's simply disgusting."

From the other side, Marsh's gentle voice replied, "Thanks for your hard work, Mina. I'll treat you to a meal once I'm discharged."

Mina Wright was instantly pleased, "You promised, Marsh! Trick Amelia into coming, teach her a lesson, you don't know how arrogant she was at home today."

"Okay."

After hanging up, a hint of hesitation crossed Marsh's face; was he really going to do this?

But thinking about how Ava had cried and her eyes were red during the past few days, Marsh steeled his heart.

Amelia Wright shouldn't have snatched Ava's teacher, shouldn't have embarrassed Ava.

...

Driving in the car, Hailey Smith glanced secretly at their Young Madam through the rearview mirror, wanting to say something but holding back.

The conversation between their Young Madam and that woman didn't avoid him at all; he heard the Young Madam intended to visit Marsh, feeling conflicted inside.

Everyone in Riverwood knew that their Young Madam used to like Marsh, even confessed to him. It was said that her confession letter was read out loud and mocked publicly, turning her into a laughingstock in their social circle.

The soup Joyce had for the Young Madam; if she were to give it to another man and the eldest found out, he'd surely be furious, right?

The eldest was injured heavily this time, wounds not yet healed, and two personalities still alternating. If he found out about this, there'll be trouble, won't there?

Just as Hailey hesitated whether to inform the eldest, he saw their Young Madam open the thermos.

Then she poured out a bowl of soup and elegantly drank it.

Hailey was puzzled, "Young Madam, are we going to First Hospital?"

Amelia Wright, enveloped in cold indifference, seemed warmed a bit by the soup's steam. She replied, "Why go to First Hospital? I have a stress response to hospitals; I won't go. Head back to Imperial Garden."

Hailey instantly flashed a broad smile.

So the Young Madam was just pretending; she never intended to visit Marsh. Hailey started driving more smoothly.

But the Young Madam's stress response to hospitals—was this a joke or real?

Hailey casually thought about it but didn't take it to heart.

...

First Hospital.

The gauze on Marsh's head had already been removed, he could be discharged.

But after receiving Mina's call, he purposely asked the doctor to re-bandage it, then tidied his beard in front of the mirror, getting himself perfectly groomed, ready to wait.

Yet he waited and waited.

A whole hour passed without a shadow of anyone.

Frustrated, Marsh started smashing things in the hospital and then with a gloomy face, made a call, "Track the car with plate number River A0808; find out where it is now!"

Amelia Wright actually dared to trick him!

Then don't blame him for being ruthless!

Marsh paid a significant price to trace the location of Amelia's car.

Cloudtop Cafe.

He directly got discharged and headed to that cafe.

Marsh could see Amelia through the floor-to-ceiling windows afar; she wore a simple white dress, her long hair flowing down her back, no makeup, lazily resting her face on her hand, yet exuding a sense of allure that could ruin nations.

Enough to make Marsh instinctively hold his breath.

Amelia Wright was truly beautiful.

Marsh went straight inside, sitting opposite Amelia.

Behind him, someone held a phone doing a live stream.

...

Meanwhile, at Imperial Garden.

In the guest room where Godfery Shaw stayed, Basil Smith was changing his bandages.

Suddenly, Godfery Shaw's phone beeped with a notification.

Godfery Shaw, initially disinterested, saw the message's content, his face darkened as he clicked the link.

Basil Smith unintentionally glanced over and saw the eldest actually watching a live stream on his phone.

On the phone screen was the Young Madam sitting face-to-face with an unseen man at a cafe, with the stream title indicating the wealthy young wife, restless after the wedding, secretly meeting an old flame.

Even Basil's hands shook while changing bandages.

Watching the elder who seemed trapped in darkness, Basil began to break out in cold sweat.
