Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Rebirth and Harm

"Amelia Wright..." A man's deep voice rang in Amelia Wright's ear.

Amelia abruptly opened her eyes, her gaze filled with hostility, her mind in a haze.

She grabbed the sharp pendant around her neck and fiercely swung it at the person beside her.

The sharp gem cut through flesh, the scent of blood heightened Amelia's disarray, wild malice spread like a rabid dog biting.

The next moment, someone seized Amelia's hands, pinning her forcefully onto the bed.

"Let go of me!" she struggled.

"Click." The room lights were turned on.

The bright light made Amelia squint; as she opened her eyes again, she clearly saw the man pressing her down.

Her consciousness finally returned from its haze.

"Godfery Shaw?" she exclaimed in surprise.

The man's robe was slightly torn, blood dripped from his chest, his prominent nose, perfect jawline, and a pair of eyes like the galaxies stared deeply at her, handsome like a deity.

Amelia's madness that seemed to drag the whole world into hell transformed into astonishment.

Wasn't she just retaliating by dying at those traitorous lovers' wedding?

How could she be beside Godfery Shaw?

Her chest no longer bore a dagger, nor did her body ache constantly from cancer.

Was she dreaming? Could she dream even after death?

At this moment, Amelia noticed the time and date on the bedside lamp's LCD screen, she was utterly shocked.

July 15, 2017.

Five years ago!!!

Could there really be a next life?

No, this isn't the next life, this is a rebirth!

She had been reborn to five years ago, to that forced... substitute marriage.

And before her was her newlywed husband, Godfery Shaw.

The woman's astonishment was too obvious, Godfery Shaw frowned, his eyes darkened as he spoke: "Do you like Marsh Smith so much, determined to divorce me?"

Amelia instinctively shook her head, looking pale and fragile, starkly different from her earlier fierce and injurious demeanor.

The Shaw family was Riverwood's top noble family, but Young Master Shaw was rumored to be a strange cripple in a wheelchair. The Wright family coveted the Shaw family's wealth and agreed to the marriage alliance, but Ava Wright refused to marry, so they had their foster daughter marry in her place.

Once, her heart was all for Marsh Smith, of course, she was unwilling to marry.

So she was sedated and forcibly sent to the Shaw family.

Once sent into the Shaw family, she realized that she was not marrying the rumored defective Young Master Shaw, but the Eldest Master of the Shaw family.

The Shaw family had two sons.

Young Master Julius Shaw never appeared in public, rumored to be an ill-tempered cripple.

While Eldest Master Godfery Shaw, the Shaw family's leader, only 26, controlled nearly half of Riverwood's commercial lifeline, a formidable man whom the entire Riverwood elite circle looked up to, and the man society ladies and debutantes dreamed of marrying.

Yet in her past life, Amelia didn't so much as glance at this outstanding man.

She was forced into a substitute marriage, filled with grievances, her mind consumed with anger, claiming she loved Marsh Smith and causing a scene about wanting a divorce on her wedding night!

Her five-year marriage to Godfery Shaw grew further apart with her constant upheaval.

In the end, she was left with no path, those she thought were family and friends kicked her while she was down, yet Godfery Shaw, with a sullen face, helped her time and again.

He invited a mysterious master, against her protests, taught her medicine, taught her various skills, even personally taught her self-defense, saying it would give her the ability to protect herself.

If it weren't for the unexpected cancer, she wouldn't have been desperate for revenge.

If Godfery Shaw had been in Riverwood at the time, perhaps she wouldn't have died...

Many owed her in this world, but the man before her not only didn't owe her but helped her.

To think she'd been reborn on the night of the substitute marriage five years ago and accidentally injured Godfery Shaw.

In an instant, Amelia retracted all her hatred and malice.

She looked up at Godfery Shaw, her small face pale, delicate yet obedient as she said, "I don't like that dog Marsh Smith anymore! Eldest Master, I won't divorce."
