Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: If You Have a Problem, Visit Me in a Dream

Throughout the entire time, Quiana Sutton's expression didn't change at all, she just ate her breakfast leisurely, as if nothing could stir her emotions, like what those people online were discussing wasn't about her at all.

Oliver Gale had experienced her indifference before, but he never expected her to be so ruthlessly detached to this extent.

Julian said Quiana Sutton agreed to the hidden marriage with Durrell Landon because she coveted his money and status.

But in his view, this girl seemed to care about nothing, not money, status, or reputation—none of it could stir her emotions; she cared about nothing, not even herself.

He hesitated for a moment before speaking:

"Miss Sutton, may I ask you a question?"

Quiana Sutton glanced at him: "What do you want to ask?"

"Did your parents know about your hidden marriage with Durrell back then? Did they somehow approve?"

Upon hearing this question, Quiana Sutton's hand paused while holding the cup, she clearly felt a sharp pain spreading from her heart. Normally, she felt nothing, but as soon as these matters were mentioned, it was as if her bones were being torn and her marrow extracted.

She put down her cup, laughed self-deprecatingly, and there was an indescribable emptiness and loneliness in her voice when she spoke,

"They've all passed away, I'm just all alone. If they have any opinions, they can convey them to me in a dream."

Oliver Gale felt a bit apologetic; he hadn't expected this to be the case.

While he wasn't majoring in psychology, because of Durrell Landon, he had some involvement.

Now he somewhat understood why this girl was so indifferent, so indifferent that it could even be called cruel.

Her whole body was like it was covered in spikes; anyone who approached her would not only be hurt, but she'd also be covered in blood herself.

Suddenly, Durrell Landon, who had been silent, spoke: "Who brought up the divorce back then?"

Quiana Sutton admitted directly: "I did."

Durrell Landon: "Why?"

Quiana Sutton calmed down slightly: "Naturally, because I got tired of being a stand-in for someone else."

"A stand-in?"

Durrell Landon looked at her with genuine confusion.

For a moment, Quiana Sutton looked at Durrell Landon with a bit of envy—how nice it must be to have amnesia, to forget everything one has done before. She slowly began:

"Because the person you like is Evelyn Windsor, but Evelyn Windsor left you to go abroad, and to ease your loneliness, you found yourself a stand-in."

Durrell Landon simply could not believe it:

"You and Evelyn Windsor are completely different types of women, and it seems your acting skills haven't reached perfection yet. If I really loved Evelyn Windsor, how could I choose you as a stand-in?"

Oliver Gale expressed his agreement.

"Miss Sutton, there must be some misunderstanding here."

Quiana Sutton: "..."

Could what Durrell Landon said himself be false?

She didn't have the mood to argue with someone with amnesia and another person who didn't know the inside story,

"If you don't believe it, then let it be. Once you regain your memories, you'll naturally understand."

After saying that, she glanced at Oliver Gale:

"Since you're a doctor, you know, just relying on stimulation isn't enough. If necessary, it's better to prescribe him some medication."

After speaking, she wiped her mouth, stood up, and looked like she was about to leave.

After Quiana Sutton left Imperial View Manor, Oliver Gale stretched lazily and his signature smile reappeared on his face: "Durrell, I couldn't tell you actually played the stand-in game? I thought you weren't that fond of Evelyn Windsor. I didn't expect you liked her so much that you'd find a stand-in."

Durrell Landon glanced at Oliver Gale, a hint of danger in his eyes: "Stop teasing me."

Even if she wasn't lying to him, and he did say such things to her, it didn't mean he actually thought that way.

He had no interest in participating in reality shows, yet he still did.

He had even less interest in finding a stand-in, yet he still did it.

With Quiana Sutton, he did things he wouldn't normally even consider doing.

Receiving Durrell Landon's gaze, Oliver Gale leaned back a bit, his tone unusually serious.

"But Durrell, if you truly like her, then you're in for some trouble."

Although they hadn't spent much time together, he could tell she wore a mask, bewildered in this world, reluctant to easily feel emotions.

Durrell Landon's face remained calm, but he was lost in thought for quite a while before speaking: "So what? As long as I don't agree to the divorce, she'll always be my wife."

Oliver Gale fell into a silence, suddenly a bit worried that Durrell Landon might walk the same path as his father.

Not long after Quiana Sutton left, Durrell Landon's phone rang.

It was a call from Evelyn Windsor, which he still didn't pick up.

Oliver Gale was not in a hurry and even instructed the servant to pour him a cup of tea.

He looked as if he was just enjoying the show.

By the fifth time the phone rang, Durrell Landon finally pressed the answer button.

"What's the matter?"

His voice was lazy and seductive as usual, and Evelyn Windsor was momentarily dazed upon hearing it, pausing a long time before she finally spoke:

"Durrell, I heard you were injured in a car accident, how's your health now?"

Durrell Landon's expression was indifferent:

"Not dead yet."

Evelyn Windsor heard the indifference and detachment in Durrell Landon's tone, and she couldn't help but panic, quickly saying:

"Durrell, I know I went abroad without saying goodbye before, and you were very angry. This time I've returned to make it up to you properly. Can you forgive me?"

Upon hearing this, Durrell Landon chuckled lowly, a barely noticeable hint of sarcasm in his tone: "Miss Windsor, you're overreacting. We didn't have any relationship back then, so wherever you wanted to go, you naturally didn't need to report to me."

When she heard "Miss Windsor," Evelyn Windsor was slightly defenseless. He used to call her Chloe Cloud, never so politely referring to her as Miss Windsor.

Her mind flashed his gentle face, finding it hard to imagine such cold words coming from Durrell Landon.

"Durrell, are you mad at me?"

Oliver Gale didn't know what Evelyn Windsor was saying to Durrell Landon, but he clearly saw Durrell Landon's lips curve slightly, a faintly distant smile spilling from his throat.

"Miss Windsor, you've misunderstood. I'm not angry. If there's nothing else, I should be resting."

After saying this, he hung up the phone.

Listening to the busy tone in her ear, Evelyn Windsor was slightly stunned.

She could clearly feel that something seemed to be quietly changing between her and Durrell Landon.

But she was unwilling to accept it.

She had seen the majestic mountains and the vast starry skies of this world, and she had encountered all kinds of people, but in her heart, no one could compare to Durrell Landon.

So, after achieving success and fame, she returned...

Everyone said she was the best match for Durrell Landon, and she had always believed it too.

She had an outstanding appearance, an excellent family background, and her own capabilities were impressive. Moreover, she was the only woman who could get close to him. She couldn't imagine who else could compare to him besides her.
