Chapter 25 - The Wicked and The Damned

When Tenshi heard this information, he had a moment of mild confusion. Considering that he had already slain hundreds of demons and even a few 'people,' he was confident in his ability to kill anything without needing a Hell sword or difficulty.

"Are there any other ways we can put an end to them?" Tenshi had a question.

"Yeah, magic can," Aldrin said, "but those who are able to utilize magic are fairly unusual."

Tenshi's curiosity in the lore grew as he learned more about it. "What would happen to people murdered by mana... I mean magic?" he said.

"Well, there are a lot of different hypotheses, such as how they vanish, or they are assimilated into this world in some way." Aldrin said, "there is a new hypothesis that suggests that those who are slain by magic would be taken to the seventh tier of hell to meet Devil King Asmodeus."

Tenshi was curious about who Asmodeus is, but he was afraid that he would draw further suspicion and attention to himself, so he chose to investigate the matter on his own and find out more information.

"Who are these Wicked?" Tenshi had a question.

"We refer to them as Wicked… Damned souls because they were too corrupted in their latter lives and were unable to reach paradise. Even while the majority of them vanish for a period of time, some choose to become demons, devils or serve for Demon Lords in order to buy themselves more time.

A damned soul is incapable of lying in any circumstance, but a wicked soul may. In all honesty, the only distinction between the two is that the skin of damned souls has a burnt appearance and can only be destroyed by demons and devils, but the skin of wicked souls slowly heals back to their original skin and may die or vanish."

Tenshi was grateful that Aldrin was explaining everything to him without asking for money or rejecting his response. Even Penny was engrossed in the narrative, and Tenshi thought she looked so adorable.

"Thank you, Aldrin. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the event that you need any more assistance; you have already gone above and beyond what was expected of you. I'll take the heavy armor and... a weapon made to my specifications." Tenshi promptly drew the one-of-a-kind weapon he had been working on, while Aldrin suggested he wear some ready-made heavy armor behind him.

He drew a short glaive with a blade that was far longer than its handle. Because the majority of glaives are as long as a spear, but their blades are only as long as a short sword, Tenshi decided to do the contrary. He pulled the pole shorter while still keeping it long enough to have a fair reach, and the blade was as big as a standard sword.

(The weapon is just temporary… His real weapon will be used later in the book)

"Interesting… Would it be possible for me to purchase this design from you?" Aldrin questioned as his eyes lit up with the excitement of a kid discovering sweets.

Tenshi chuckled, the previously solemn Aldrin now looked like a child who had just received his prized possession.

"So long as I get the credit, my friend... And if I receive any... more inspiration for weapons or armor, I will let you know." Tenshi gave his response.

Tenshi gave some consideration to Aldrin's suggestion that he work at the forge under his tutelage. He is confident he can generate a respectable amount of money because of his gamer brain, which has many weapons and armor designs from a variety of movies and video games like World of Warcraft, including even modern weaponry.

"If you can provide me with additional ideas like this one, I would produce the weapons for free," he said. "With limits of course." Aldrin was nice enough to produce free copies of the weapons that Tenshi devised, provided that they were of sufficient quality and the materials weren't too costly.

Tenshi was able to pay with the appropriate amount of money that he had acquired from many goblin settlements.

Aldrin looked at the money that had a few dried goblin blood stains on it and questioned himself, "Were you the one who was destroying those goblin settlements?" Even after a number of washes, the odor is still there, and it is believed that this is why there have been so many goblin hunts since they are able to detect the blood of their own kind on him.

Aldrin added, "Do slow down on hunting if you can, Mr. Tenshi." Tenshi agreed, so Aldrin proceeded. "They are the primary source of gold in this region since some merchants who are either half-goblin or are fluent in Goblin speech are able to engage in commerce with them... Here, for the stench."

Tenshi, despite the fact that he collected massive amounts of wealth from each goblin settlement, accepted without hesitation since murdering them no longer increases his mana.

He caught a glimpse of clear glass bottles that contained several colored liquids, including red, blue, and green. Each of them referred to them as "Health," "Magic," and "Stamina."

Tenshi has never had the opportunity to interact with people other than the Wicked and the Damned, therefore this is the first time he has seen potions.

"How much are they," Tenshi questioned while indicating the potions in the room.

Healing 50gp

Greater 200-250 GP

Superior 2000-2500 gp

Supreme 20000-25000 GP

In response, he looked at the prices and said, "I want one Supreme, three Superior, five Greater, and ten Healing."

It seemed as if Aldrin was asking, "Can you pay the price?" with the inquiring expression he offered by narrowing his eyes.

Tenshi indicated his agreement with a nod and then produced a big sack from which noises of gold clinking could be heard.

"Do you have.. A way to help someone who is suffering from the effects of Limbo?" Tenshi vaguely asked, thinking of the black fur ball he is housing.

"Hum… I've heard of such cases, especially when we arrived in this cursed land where many suffered the effects of Hell, like their bodies rotting, dying with fever… I think it's called Scarlet Fever, it is common among…. Poor folks. I would ask around the nobles since i am sure they definitely have a cure"

"Thank you and Here…" Tenshi responded by saying, "and keep the rest. Just think of it as an investment."

Aldrin wasn't bashful enough to turn down such a generous gift, so he accepted it after expressing his gratitude for it.

The front door suddenly opened, exposing a group of troops inside the building.

Tenshi saw that one of the members of the group was armed with a weapon and armor of a higher quality than the others, and his gut told him that this individual was the most powerful of the bunch.

"Greetings, brave adventurer! My name is Zain Richardson, and I serve as the commander of the Lower Elturel Guard Station. Do you happen to have any time on your hands?" stated Zain, who was widely believed to be the guard station's commander.

Tenshi's brow furrowed, and an alarming expression passed across his narrowed eyes.

Zains, seeing the tension in Tenshi's demeanor, instantly said, "Oh, nothing to be concerned about. You haven't really done anything wrong; all that was required of you was to go through some mandatory procedure."

"I am certain that the commander of the guard doesn't need to come personally... very well... Could you just wait until I've finished making my payment?" Tenshi inquired in a courteous manner, with an implication of command.

Zains laughed nervously and then said, "Sure... Outside, we will be waiting for you... Still haven't caught on to your name, huh?"

Tenshi's response was, "Tenshi."

Tenshi quickly completed making his payments and put on his heavy medium armor after selling the leather armor that he had been using, which was worn out.

[A/N: FYI Many of the armor and weapons are inspired by modded Skyrim… and a few other games.]

Tenshi reconsidered his decision at the last second because he was certain that even though he could be better protected if he wore heavy armor, the heat might either kill him or be a royal pain in the ass. Therefore, he went for a suit of armor that was somewhere in the center.

"It will take a week; normally it would have taken less time to create and more time to devise as I have many other orders; nevertheless, I am unable to wait to build this weapon quickly."

Tenshi was grateful to Aldrin once again, but he would never put his whole confidence in him or anyone else for that matter. After being cruelly betrayed by Ward, he matured and learned from his mistake.

After watching Tenshi leave the store, Zain remarked, "Please follow me."

While Tenshi was making his way into the middle of the area, he came upon a gigantic floating land in the sky. It was linked to the ground by chains that were attached to either side.

Zain, seeing Tenshi's expression, responded by saying, "That's Higher Elturel... primarily for dukes, royalty, and other persons in higher status."

Tenshi is certain that there will be no demi-humans in the Higher Elturel, but he can already see in his mind that there will be a civil war in the future because of prejudice. This is because Tenshi has seen numerous demi-humans in this area who looked… poorly.

Tenshi, Zain, and the guard in front of them entered the building as soon as they arrived at what seemed to be a towering watchtower.

Zain asked Tenshi to accompany him to his office.

After taking a look around, he saw that it was a typical medieval workplace, complete with papers, swords, and shields strewed around the place.

Zain sat down in his chair behind the desk. "Please have a seat," he urged.

"Before we begin…" Zain said, "Can you tell me whether you are a human or a demi-human?" while trying to seem casual, but there was still some caution in his voice when he spoke.

Tenshi said, in a manner that was not quite clear, "Why is that any of your concern?"

Tenshi is extremely careful since he thinks that there might be a method to determine whether or not a person is speaking the truth.

As he had anticipated, he saw Zain giving a suspicious look beneath his desk while nodding his head.

Zain's expression had become tenser as he said the following words: "I am sorry as there has been lately... some examples of demi-human turning traitors and terrorists," he disclosed.

Tenshi could easily guess how the demi-humans were being treated in the streets, and this gave him a good indication that there was some type of insurrection going on. He was aware that the humans, who were referring to the rebels as betrayers and terrorists, believed there might be some validity to what they were saying.

The door was forcibly opened all of a sudden, displaying a group of individuals clad in distinctive red devilish armor.
