Justin steps toward her slowly.
Hope—fragile, desperate—flickers in his chest.
"Maybe it can come back," he says.
But she shakes her head.
"No," she whispers. "There's nothing there."
She presses her hand to her chest again.
"Just… this emptiness."
The bond flickers weakly between them.
Not dead.
But not alive either.
A corpse of what it once was.
Justin's shoulders slump.
