Chapter 15 - 15- One Month Survival (2)

I wasn't able to sleep at all last night. My brain has been working overtime, thinking about what I witnessed yesterday.

That wolf's image was still engraved into my brain. The way it manipulated lightning was stuck in my head.

Instead of exploring today, I decided to stay near my base and practice my lightning ability more.

I realized that I was nowhere near what my abilities should actually be.

I did the same thing I did for the last two days, I caught three fish, grilled and ate them. There were no snakes this time.

After I ate breakfast, I started training. I imagined the wolf fighting. I had a good look at how the wolf's Lightning Cloak worked.

I started using my own Lightning Cloak, and I kept thinking back to how the wolf used its abilities.

I decided to train my lightning cloak and push it past its limits. But no matter what I did, I felt rushed, and there were no results after all this training. All I did was tire myself out.

I wasn't able to improve at all for a few hours. I could feel that what I was doing was wrong.

'*Sigh* I'm getting impatient. I need to calm down.' I stopped pushing and kept my lightning cloak in a steady state.

I started to regulate my breathing as much as I could, but I was still anxious, and my heart was beating really hard.

A few minutes of regulated breathing, and then I canceled my lightning cloak. I need to calm down a little.

I had many feelings rushing through me at the moment.

A mixture of anger, confusion, excitement, and fear. I knew I had abilities, but I wasn't using them at all.

'Now I know why Yujiro put me here, he wants to fight these beasts. That's the only way I'll grow physically and mentally,' I looked at the forest. The dark canopy seemed to get darker by the second.

'I've been avoiding the forest for so long, always walking around the edges, and avoiding anything big. I saw two of those animals fight, and I've been scared to go back in there. I can lie to myself as much as I want, but the truth is, I'm just delaying the inevitable. I have to go into the forest and fight.'

I made a mistake. Last night, I said I was at the bottom of the food chain, but that is not entirely correct. I made assumptions, and I let my fear of the unknown hold me back. I have to go into the forest and figure out where I stand on the food chain. I have to go hunting.

'I know I'm being impatient, but I can't stay scared for so long.'

(3rd Person POV)

After that, somewhat of a mental breakdown, Aska calmed down a bit

"The first time we met, you considered me the predator, and you're the prey." Yujiro's words suddenly rang in his mind. 'He's right, I just got here, and I'm considering myself the weakest. I only killed fish and a few little snakes; I haven't fought an actual opponent yet.'

After thinking it over and over, Aska finally decided

'A hunter doesn't wait around like this!' With that, Aska picked up the sharp stone and walked towards the forest.

He was scared, but he knew what he had to do.

————————

It's been a week since Aska has actively started hunting down the animals in the forest. Currently, Aska is fighting with a bear that has two extra limbs.

Aska jumped to his right and dodged a vertical slash. He formed a chidori in his right hand and rushed towards the bear. The bear stood on its hind legs and sent a horizontal slash. Aska leans forward, letting the slash pass over his head, he slightly tilts his body, and strikes the bear in the ribs.

The bear lets out a painful growl. There was blood dripping from the bear's side.

Aska puts some distance between them. He pulls out the sharp stone he had and coats it with lightning. He waits for an opportunity, and the bear falls back on all six.

Without hesitation, Aska bolts towards the bear, which tried to fight back, but its neck was already stuck with the stone.

The bear wasn't dead yet; it released a series of painful growls. Aska ignores them and rushes towards the bear again. He forms a chidori in both of his hands, the bear was still on all six, stumbling around from the pain of getting stabbed in the neck.

Aska runs from behind the bears, jumps up, and lands on top of the bear's back. As a reaction, the bear tries to stand on his hind legs.

Before the bear can completely stand, Aska punches the bear's shoulder with his left hand. After his left hand pierced the bear's shoulder, he canceled the chidori in his left. Now his hand is stuck inside the bear's shoulder. He used the hand that was already stuck inside the bear to pull himself for a stronger punch using his right hand. He pierced through the bear's head. With that, Aska was able to finally kill the bear.

After Aska killed the bear, he used his stone to cut out the bear's claws and took them with him.

It was already sunset when the fight ended. Aska started to walk towards his base. 'Man, that was exhausting. That bear was tough, I had to wear it down for a while.'

Aska's clothes were ripped a bit and soaked with blood from the bear; he was also dirty from fighting all day.

He got to his home base, which is different from before. It had a make-shift bed made out of big tree leaves. It wasn't the most comfortable, but much better than sleeping on the sand.

After he arrived, he took off his clothes and dived into the water. After washing up with the salty water, he put on his lightning cloak to dry himself up completely.

He ate some of the pre-made fish he had saved up and drank some coconut water, then slept.

The next morning, Aska woke with the sunrise. He caught some fish like usual, went to his regular spot with the fish to cook them.

On his way there, Aska saw smoke coming toward him.

'Finally, you decided to come back. I was going to go look for you today.' Aska had a malicious smile on his face. He wanted to kill this snake since it was one of the stronger opponents on this island.

Aska threw the fish to the side and grabbed the stone he used to gut the fish. It was a make-shift blade, one that he used for many things.

Over the last week, Aska was training like crazy, every day pushing himself past his limits, whether it was his quirk, physically, or mentally. So he wasn't scared of the snake like last time. He knew for a fact that he could kill it.

The lightning cloak flared to life around Aska, but he didn't move from his spot.

The smoke kept creeping towards Aska. After the smoke was a few feet away from Aska, it stopped.

'It seems there is a limit to the snake's ability. About 30 feet from the snake's body is the limit range of the smoke. But is it poisonous or not?'

Unlike before, Aska decides to take a chance and runs straight into the smoke.

The second he entered the smoke, his eyes were useless. He couldn't see anything, but that was fine; his observation haki was more than enough to handle this.

Inside the smoke, Aska was battling with multiple snakes; none of them seemed to have a quirk; it looked like they were just teaming up to take him down.

None of them could hurt Aska, but he didn't let his guard down, because the big one was just watching.

Ten minutes later, and Aska was facing straight at the only snake left. The smoke snake.

Aska clenches his fist. Lightning flared all around him. This snake is big, but he wasn't intimidated.

He puts away the sharp stone. 'I've been wanting to try this move, you'll work great as a test subject,' thought Aska while facing in the direction of the snake

Aska focuses more lightning into his hands; instead of a chidori, he creates something different. His hands were covered with way more lightning than a regular chidori. The lightning was so condensed that it looked like a bright blue skintight glove that covered up to his elbow.

(A/N: Think of luck from black clover)

His fingers looked slightly longer than usual, it looked like claws. Aska didn't waste any more time and ran towards the snake; it couldn't even react to his speed. By the time the snake reacted, it had already been pierced in the head with Aska's hands.

'It seems this can pierce better than the chidori, this move is almost like my arm turns into lightning itself.' Aska was observing the effect of his new move. He only used it on a few trees before; he wanted to know how effective it is against an actual opponent.

'But this fight was way too easy, this snake didn't even do anything, it was slow and could only release a smoke screen, it wasn't even poisonous, or at least I don't feel poisoned.

Since the source of the smoke died, the smoke started to get blown away slowly, until there was no more smoke around.

Aska picked up the fish he threw nearby and kept walking towards his cooking spot.

After he was done with his breakfast, on his way back, he saw a few seagulls around the snake.

'Oh, I forgot to collect my reward.'

Aska approached the dead snake's head. He takes out his sharp stone, coats it with lightning, and digs out the snake's fangs.

'Maybe I can sharpen them or something,' Aska thought as he carried the fangs back to his base.

++++++++++

It's been a couple of days since Aska killed the smoke snake.

After he used his new move and realized how strong it is, he started to wander deeper into the forest.

He detected the teleporting bear once, but he didn't go near it.

'I will kill it, but now I'm just too weak; I need to get a little stronger.'

He avoided it, but he wasn't scared of it; in his head, he was doing things methodically. It was a fact that the bear was stronger, but he knew he would get to its level soon.

++++++++++

It's been three days since Aska spotted the teleporting bear.

A total of 13 days have passed since he came to this island.

On one of his explorations, he found his next target.

It was a wolf with gray hair. It used a move where it would send sound waves out of its mouth. He saw it kill an ordinary bear with that move.

'Sound waves? This one is strong,' thought Aska.

He didn't confront the sound wolf, since it was already late, and he was exhausted, so he decided to hunt it down another day.

The next day, Aska did his usual routine. But this time, he started to catch more than three fish.

'I won't go hunting today. I need to practice more. I've neglected my magnetism training. I'll focus on that today.' Aska decided he'll stay near his base. He felt that he had reached as far as he could with his lightning cloak; now, he switched his focus to something else.

He sat down and started to imagine the wavelength of magnetism. After some time, there were a few purple sparks around his hand.

Aska let the purple lightning slowly crawl up his arm. He covered his entire arm with the purple lightning.

He kept doing that for an hour; that was his limit. After he stopped, he noticed the area around his body was surrounded by black sand.

'Did I attract iron sand while training?'

Seeing some improvement in his magnetic ability, Aska felt more motivated, and he went back to training.

He kept manipulating the purple lightning around his body. After four hours of working on his control, he decided to try something.

He started to cover his hand with purple lightning, creating a purple chidori.

'It looks cool as hell, but I'm not sure if it's any better,' Aska thought as he looked at the chidori in his right hand.

Aska then decided to compare both, so he channeled lightning into his left hand to form a regular chidori. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't.

'I can use my pale blue lightning, or the purple lightning separately, but not together?'

After he found out about that, he started to meditate more while focusing on his lightning ability.

He spent the rest of the day working on it, and finally, when it was already late at night, he was able to channel both types of lightning, one to his right side and the other to the left.

At this point, Aska felt exhausted from using his ability all day long, so he went to sleep right away.

The next morning, Aska woke up again with the sunrise. He had gotten used to sleeping on sand and tree leaves.

He did his routine.

On his way back from his cooking spot, a thought came to mind.

'Should I go to the forest and fight, or should I keep training my purple lightning?' Aska was debating himself. Then he remembered yesterday and the progress he's made.

'I think I'll keep training for today. I have so much to improve on.' He ultimately decided.

Aska went back to his base and started to train his purple lightning. He was able to form a blue chidori in his left and a purple chidori in his right. He then started to focus, and a few seconds later, they swapped colors.

'So I can manipulate both at the same time, one on each side of my body, nice!'

He spent the next hour or so getting familiar with switching sides between regular lightning and purple lightning.

After he was satisfied with his initial training, he decided to spread a magnetic field around his body as wide as possible.

Aska started to walk around the beach.

'Let's see what kind of interesting things I will attract,' Aska thought to himself.

Aska attracted A few different things. First of all was black sand. He attracted a lot of it. He also attracted a small piece of scrap metal, almost as big as a pencil. He also found a few coins and a couple of paper clips, and other small objects he couldn't identify.

'It seems that some people came here before. I found nothing interesting, but all of them can be used.' Aska put all of them in his pocket, except for the black sand. He decided to drag that behind him while he walked.

Aska started to walk around his base, but he had to walk slower than usual. Because every time he walked at his normal speed, he would outpace the black sand behind him and lose the magnetic control over it.

'This could be a good training idea,' Aska thought.

Aska started to walk around his base, but this time he used his observation haki on the sand and himself. He wanted to see how far from the sand he could be before he lost control. He walked while the black sand was getting dragged behind him. He walked at different speeds, and he kept doing it over and over, until he was finally able to walk at normal speed with black sand behind him.

While he was doing that, he discovered a few other things.

'The heavier the object, the harder to control, obviously. The more items I try to control, the less control I have over each item, and the further the distance, the weaker my control is.' Aska made a few simple observations about his magnetism.

Aska grabbed a handful of black sand. And started a different kind of control training.

He used his magnetism to cause some of the black sand to float above his hand. After he got the hang of it, he started to shape the sand. At first, it was simple shapes like spheres and squares.

Then it got a little complex. He started forming pentagons and stars.

Aska looked to his left and saw the other objects he attracted with his magnetism. He stretched his hand and focused on the small pencil-shaped scrap metal. A few seconds later, it levitated and moved closer to Aska, till it landed in his hand.

Aska kept working on his magnetism all day; the only time he stopped was to eat or drink.
