Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Hikage Family

Chapter 6: The Family

The Hikage family was not one to blend into the background, despite what Karsten might have wished. Each member stood out in their own right, shaping a household that could be described as anything but ordinary.

At the helm was Hikage Renji, a man of quiet intelligence whose presence was felt more in the weight of his words than the volume of his voice. A lead scientist on I-Island, his quirk, "Synapse Boost," turned his mind into something beyond human—a living supercomputer capable of rapid calculations and split-second critical thinking. He had the look of an archetypal Japanese man: short black hair, sharp dark eyes, an average build. Glasses perched on his nose, adding to his already formidable intellectual air. To the untrained eye, he might seem unassuming, but beneath the surface, his mind worked at speeds no normal person could comprehend.

Then there was Hikage Elise-Roth, the enigma of the family. A woman of grace and power, her striking white hair cascaded like silk past her shoulders, framing piercing blue eyes that saw more than they let on. With skin pale as moonlight and an elegance that made her stand out in any crowd, one had to wonder how Renji had managed to win her over. She was soft-spoken but far from weak—her quirk, "Echo Copy," allowed her to replicate the abilities of anyone she had physically touched within the past 24 hours. It was a more refined, singular version of Karsten's own power, a reminder that his abilities had come from somewhere. She had the air of someone who could have been a hero but had chosen a different path. A woman of wisdom and quiet strength, she held the family together in ways that no quirk ever could.

Their firstborn, Hikage Astrid, carried herself with the kind of presence that made others take notice. At 175 cm, her tall, lean frame was complemented by long silver-white hair often tied into a no-nonsense ponytail. Her sharp blue eyes rarely wavered, filled with a quiet intensity that hinted at an indomitable will. Calm, composed, a natural leader—she was everything one would expect of an eldest sibling.

But beneath that composed exterior was an overprotective sister who would not hesitate to obliterate anyone who so much as looked at her family the wrong way. Her quirk, "Particle Disruption," was nothing short of terrifying, capable of breaking down matter at a molecular level and reconstructing it at will.

Those who had seen its full potential rarely spoke of it without a shudder. But power came at a cost; to manipulate a material, she had to understand its molecular structure completely. A single miscalculation, and the results could be catastrophic. Currently interning under a renowned European hero, Astrid had left the family home to pursue her ambitions, but her presence still loomed over them, her influence undeniable.

The second-born, Hikage Elias, was a different kind of enigma. Where Astrid commanded attention, Elias deflected it with an air of nonchalance. Messy black hair with silver streaks, half-lidded blue-gray eyes that always seemed one step ahead of everyone—he carried the aura of a lazy genius. A student at I-Island's Science Academy, he was an undeniable prodigy, but one who refused to take anything too seriously. His quirk, "Circuit Overload," allowed him to absorb electricity and channel it into his brain, temporarily granting him superhuman processing speed. For thirty seconds, he could think faster than any computer, react before an enemy even moved. But the backlash was severe—overuse led to searing migraines and the temporary loss of motor control. That didn't seem to bother Elias much; he approached life with a laid-back attitude, letting people underestimate him while he played them like chess pieces. If Astrid was the family's sword, Elias was the shadow pulling the strings.

And then there was Karsten.

Well, Karsten was Karsten.

The third child of the Hikage family, If his siblings were flames burning bright, he was the quiet ember in the corner, flickering just enough to be ignored. A transmigrator who knows the events of the My Hero Academia Universe. In his past life, he was a nursing student whose experience in the field is one of the best. Although he was stripped of his dream of becoming one as he died before he even became a registered nurse, he hopes to continue his dream here in the world of my Hero Academia.

He was a boy of contradictions—average in looks, but with a quirk that could claim the title of one of the strongest "Quirk Mimicry," the ability to copy and stack the quirks of those within a 500-meter radius. A power with limitless potential, but one that came with just as many drawbacks. Five minutes. That was all he had with any copied quirk before it vanished, leaving him powerless until the cooldown ended on that certain quirk vanish, And he could only hold five at a time. A blessing and a curse, much like the family he had been born into. Where Astrid thrived in battle and Eliasbeing a genius bastard, Karsten sought obscurity, content with being a background character in a world of heroes and villains. As he knows, a small mistake may lead to a disruption of the current already "stable world".

Then there was the youngest, Hikage Liesel. The walking storm. The embodiment of chaos in a deceptively small package. At 147 cm, she was smaller than Karsten but carried an energy that made her seem larger than life. Silver-gray hair cropped in a messy bob, blue eyes burning with mischief—she was everything Karsten wasn't. Loud, reckless, and completely unafraid of standing out. She didn't just embrace the spotlight; she sought it. Where Karsten shied away from attention, Liesel thrived on it. And if that wasn't enough, her quirk, "Mimic Shift," only added to her growing legend. Unlike Karsten, she could only copy one quirk at a time, but she had no time limit. She could hold onto a quirk for an entire hour, shifting between different abilities at will. The downside? Each switch required five seconds of intense focus, and switching too quickly could leave her disoriented. But for someone as determined as Liesel, that was just another challenge to overcome.

Despite being only twelve, she had already set her sights on U.A. 's Hero Course, something Karsten had never even considered. She challenged him constantly, calling him out for quirk battles, determined to prove that she could surpass him. Her boundless energy earned her the nickname "walking disaster with a smile," courtesy of Elias, and she wore the title with pride. Astrid doted on her, Elias found her antics amusing, and Karsten… Well, Karsten endured.

The Hikage siblings were a force to be reckoned with, each carving their own path in a world that never stopped moving. A prodigious scientist, a feared warrior, a lazy genius, a reluctant observer, and an unstoppable storm. Different in every way, yet bound together by blood and something far stronger—an unbreakable bond forged by their parents from a very young age.

Lying on his bed, Karsten stared blankly at the ceiling, his mind refusing to quiet down. The events of the previous night played over and over in his head—the fight with Stain, the blood, the way his body moved on instinct. The exhaustion gnawed at him, but sleep never came. Instead, a different kind of fatigue settled in: a question, an uncertainty that coiled itself around his thoughts and refused to let go.

"Did I do the right thing?" His voice was barely above a whisper, but the weight of the question pressed down on him like an iron chain.

His interference had changed something. He knew the story, the supposed timeline of this world. Stain was meant to continue his bloody crusade, to leave behind a trail of victims that would ultimately shape the future. But Karsten had injured him, delayed him—perhaps even prevented one of those pivotal moments from happening.

"Would the timeline change?" he muttered, eyes tracing the faint patterns on the ceiling. "Did I just screw everything up?" The changes is already apparent when Midoriya began to top at the test and the entrance exam earlier.

A shiver ran through him, not from the night air but from the realization that had been lurking at the edges of his mind since the fight. He wasn't supposed to be here. He wasn't supposed to exist in this world.

At least, that was what he had feared in the beginning.

When he first awakened in this body, a foreign presence in someone else's life, the fear of displacement had nearly consumed him. He wasn't Karsten Hikage—he was someone else, someone who had been thrust into this existence without warning. He had believed, for the longest time, that he had stolen this life, that the original Karsten had been erased, overwritten by a stranger from another world.

But now… now he wasn't so sure.

The more he lived as Karsten, the more the memories of the past life faded—not erased, but softened, like old ink bleeding into parchment. He had never felt like he was fighting for control of this body. No strange impulses, no conflicting thoughts. He moved the way Karsten should, spoke the way Karsten should, and even his emotions aligned with what the original had desired.

The original Karsten had wished for peace and tranquility. He had dreamed of becoming a doctor, a healer rather than a warrior. And yet, fate had pushed him toward a different path.

Much like his past self.

In his previous life, Karsten had failed to achieve that dream, had fallen short of becoming the medical practitioner he had once aspired to be. And now, in this world, he had inherited a soul that carried the same longing, the same unfulfilled wish. It wasn't just coincidence. It was as if the two of them had simply become one—merged so seamlessly that there was no longer any distinction between them.

A bitter chuckle escaped his lips. "Guess neither of us got what we wanted."

He closed his eyes, letting the silence stretch. The faint glow of the morning sun began to creep through the edges of his curtains, the soft golden light spilling into his room. He hadn't even noticed when night had faded into dawn. The hours had slipped away, stolen by the weight of his thoughts.

A sigh left him. There was no use agonizing over it now. What was done was done. He could only move forward.

And then—

His door slammed open, a blur of silver-gray hair charging into the room.

"Karsten!"

Before he could react, a small body launched itself onto his stomach, knocking the air from his lungs with a sharp "oof!"

Liesel grinned down at him, completely unfazed by his groan of pain. "You're up early!"

He gave her a half-lidded glare, still catching his breath. "Wasn't exactly by choice."

She smirked, tilting her head. "Well, too bad! Get up!"

Karsten let out a slow exhale, pressing a hand over his face. The weight of the night's thoughts lingered, but as his sister practically vibrated with excitement above him, he found himself exhaling just a little of the tension that had kept him locked in place.

Perhaps he didn't have all the answers yet. Perhaps he never would.

But for now, he had a family. He had a life.

And that was enough.
