Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: A clue

Unlike Dean and Sam, who were fake agents, Sharon was a genuine N.I.A. agent, so he doesn't have the natural fear of interacting with the police.

Generally speaking, people like Dean and Sam had to resort to gossip newspapers in addition to visiting people to obtain information as the Internet had not yet risen on a large scale during the current year, 2005.

For Sharon though, the most convenient and quickest way to investigate someone is to enter the police station and check their file. Don't think that the United States has no personal files. In fact, the file information here is some of the most detailed and clearest in the world.

Sharon appeared to obeyed Dean's suggestion, but said that he was used to investigating alone, so the two parties exchanged contact information, and they parted ways after they agreed to meet at this restaurant once it became night.

Sharon drove the car around the town. After making sure that no one was following him, he turned around and drove into the town police station.

The size of the national police station is closely related to the development of the local town community. If the town is big and the community is affluent, then the police station will be magnificent and the police officers will be well equipped.

If the opposite is true, just look at Detroit.

The town is not small, so the police station is well built, and the supporting facilities are also very complete. Even the big-head computers are equipped for the police officers.

You know, this is 2005, and in the last year of 2019, there were remote police stations in the United States that used this kind of computer.

The reception staff of the local police department confirmed Sharon's number and identity through the internal special line between the police department and the Arizona N.I.A. branch, and then allowed Sharon to enter the police department's archives. With the help of civilian police officers, they checked the case related files.

From this series of procedures, Sharon understood why Dean and the others did not dare to come to the police station. No matter how realistic their documents are forged, the police station only needs to make a call through the internal line to reveal their identities.

Although holding the identity of a N.I.A. agent is quite good in the police station below, especially after Sheriff Owen specifically called to inquire, the police officer who had assisted Sharon did not really care.

Soon a stack of files was placed in front of Sharon.

The little police officer who wears glasses and looks like a newcomer, some breathlessly said, "Sir, these are all of missing persons within ten years from here."

"Okay," Sharon picked up a file, blew the dust on it, and said solemnly, "Now we just need to find out what the similarly to these cases to the current disappearance. For example, the date and time, all men who were alone and many more…"

Sharon can't cheat this investigation. As he doesn't remember the plot of the TV series starring Dean and Sam. He can only find clues the old fashion way.

After more than an hour of investigation, Sharon and the his policeman assistant found 16 files from the pile of small-sized files.

The basic situation of these sixteen missing cases is very similar to Jack's disappeared. First of all, the dates of these people's accidents happen between July 15 and 21 of each year.

The people who had the accident next were men who were alone late at night, and there were no witnesses at the time of the accident. It seemed that they had evaporated from this world overnight.

After spreading out the sixteen thin files, one by one in front of Sharon. Sharon carefully checked through them, hoping to find clues, especially when it comes to women, to see if there are any women who were wearing white clothes.

After investigating for a long time, Sharon didn't see anything. After all, in the United States, a missing persons case is simply too normal. Just look at the homeless people on the streets and you will know that running away from home at every turn is the unique scenery of the American people.

Therefore, after the police station receives such a report, it usually ends in a hasty manner and they do not spend a lot of manpower and material resources on searching.

Like this time Jack is missing, although the police station did dispatch helicopters and police dogs, that happened due to Jack's stepfather being the towns mayor.

"Strange," while Sharon was thinking about it, the police officer at his side suddenly said, "Sir, I followed your instructions and marked the route of these people when they disappeared on the map. I found this... "

They said, before the police officer spread out the map in front of Sharon. The map had marks from pencils of different colors to draw a route, but these routes are eventually met on a highway.

Route 28.

Sharon narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice: "Mark the location where these missing vehicles were found."

The police officer immediately pointed with a pencil, but after only three clicks, his face changed. After the locations where the sixteen missing persons' vehicles were abandoned are marked, it can be clearly seen that these small spots are around the bridge on Highway 28.

Sharon stared at the road line on the map that was thickened because the pencil was constantly drawn. Suddenly he remembered something and rushed into the pile of files. After turning through it for a while, he found a dust-stained file.

"Kolff Fuggin, on July 21, 1996, was reported by his wife Beth Fuggin that he was missing. After several days of investigation by the police, there was no result... the next year, on July 15, 1997, Beth was found to have committed suicide by jumping into a river, and when the police searched her residence, they found that Beth's two children (a man and a woman) had already drowned in the bathtub..."

Perhaps because this disappearance case involved a life lawsuit, the investigation of this file is very detailed. There are not only detailed survey transcripts, but also on-site photos and so on.

Sharon's eyes quickly locked on a photo, where Beth jumped into the river to commit suicide, and this place happened to be the iron bridge where Jack was driving the vehicle.

Subsequent photos and autopsy report confirmed Sharon's guess that Beth did commit suicide, and when she committed suicide, she was wearing a white pyjamas.

As for her two children...

Sharon slowly closed the dossier, sighed silently, and handed the dossier to the little police officer, "Make a copy of this dossier, I want to take it away."

Just as Sharon made a major breakthrough in the case, Dean and Sam also made new progress. I have to say that the two of them also found a set of clues for investigation. They cut down the missing persons notices published in the newspapers in the town over the years and put them together. Soon they also found the clue on Route 28.

Then they followed the 28th highway, and soon found an article similar to a ghost story in a gossip tabloid in the 2000 edition.

"...It is said that Corff was not missing, but eloped with a woman from outside...After Corff disappeared, Beth's mental state has been unstable and often desolate, but she has always refused to look at her psychology. Doctor…"

Sam read the article while frowning and said, "On the night of July 15, 1997, when the two children were bathing, Beth had mental problems again. She was in a trance and did not pay attention, to the two children. As a result they accidentally got electrocuted while taking a bath... Beth completely broke down. She ran out of the house with her bare feet and wearing only a thin white pyjama. She ran for more than an hour at a stretch, and finally jumped off an iron bridge..."
