The woman could only stare at Erend for several seconds. Her eyes and mouth remained wide open, and she did not even blink. She barely moved at all. It was difficult to tell whether she was simply overwhelmed by what she had seen or whether fear had completely frozen her in place.
Erend watched her carefully while observing his surroundings. He looked around the barren landscape but could not see anyone else nearby.
The woman appeared to be completely alone in this desolate place, surrounded by dry earth, dead vegetation, and scattered remains of whatever life had once existed here. Fortunately, the air did not seem toxic, so despite the harsh environment, it was still breathable.
