"Guess what?" My eyes were brimming with excitement.
"Ash, you know I'm not good at playing these guessing games, and I'm not playing them with you either, so…spill," not giving me the chance to play around.
"Take it easy now; I'll tell you, but on one condition."
"Which is?" I could sense she was holding her curiosity back.
"Don't. Freak. Out," I said, emphasising each word.
"Sure, I won't…. Now tell me."
"So the thing is, I am… in a relationship," I said, pausing between my words since I wasn't sure I was communicating it well.
"What is this young lady saying?"
"Do I need to spell it out for you to understand? … I said, I'm in a relationship… as in I am dating?" I had to spread it out.
"You. Aislin Hart. Dating?"
"Of course… what's wrong with that?"
"Absolutely nothing and everything is wrong… . Are you playing with me or mocking me?"
"Come on, Jennie, I'm telling you the truth."
"Then tell me, who is this unlucky fellow who has gotten himself entangled in your problems?"
"Who else could it be…? Just guess this once."
"Well, let's see… don't tell me you are seriously getting engaged with Ryan because of that stupid arrangement," she shouted with her eyes widely opened.
"Oh, come on, Jennie, he's out," I assured her.
"Well aside, Ryan, you are also close to Kee… Wait... is he the one?" she asked surprisingly.
"I knew you were always good at guessing," I told her
"Are you being serious right now?… You are dating Keenan Russell?"
"Is there anything wrong with…?"
"Jesus… you have finally answered my prayers," she yelled while hugging me tight till I was out of breath.
"Can you let me go now?" I struggled to speak.
"Just shut it and stay there." She ignored me and continued breaking my bones till she felt okay to let me go.
"Now tell me how it happened… I mean word for word; don't leave out a single detail". Her curiosity will be the end of her.
There was no way I could ever tell her what happened to me in the past and how it is connected to the current situation, so I had to figure something out as fast as I could.
"Mmmm, it was nothing much… He came to see me yesterday after class at home, and we were alone upstairs. I could feel the spark between us as our eyes met, and since I couldn't take my eyes off him, I kissed him." I told a big lie to save Keenan and myself from Jennie.
"Wait… hold on… let me get something straight… You kissed him first?"
"Yeah, I did," I answered, feeling all proud.
"OMG… And how did he react to it?"
"Well, he first froze since it came to him as a shock, but just when I was about to retract from my position, he started kissing me back," I said, looking away shyly.
"I always knew you both were meant for other… I'm so proud of you, girl."
"You can say that again."
"But did you guys… urhm, I mean… did you… you know…"
"Oh please, Jennie, stop having those nasty thoughts."
"What? I'm just asking."
"No, no, no, don't go there yet… we just kissed."
"Okay, okay… So where is your boyfriend now?"
"He's a bit busy, but I'm sure he will call me later." The sound of the word "boyfriend" sounded so nice to my ears. I couldn't wait to tell my dad I got myself a boyfriend; he would feel so happy.
We had a long chat while going to drop her off at home before heading to mine. Ana had prepared one of my favourite meals when I got home, and without wasting much time, I dug in like I hadn't eaten for a century. I filled my tummy before heading upstairs to take my bath. Since it was my first time dating, I took my phone to scroll through social media to find out about fun stuff to do as a couple, and I came across quite a number of them, and I wanted to experience each one of them without missing out. I slept off before i knew it because i had a long day.
