The faint fragrance of flowers mixed with the pungent smell of disinfectant filled Clara Sutton's senses. As she opened her eyes, the snow-white ceiling came into her blurry view.
As her vision grew clearer, she realized the room's layout was very familiar. After a two-second daze, she propped herself up and sat up, feeling waves of pain from her head. Raising a hand to her forehead, she found a white bandage sticking to her temple.
The door suddenly opened, and a doctor and nurse in white coats walked in. Seeing that she was awake, they smiled and asked her if she felt any discomfort.
Clara shook her head. After a series of checks, her consciousness gradually returned to her mind, and she recalled the scene of the brake failure. She quickly grabbed the wrist of the nurse who was taking her blood pressure.
