"If not, why did you let Miss Harper slap Bertha?"
Faced with Maya's aggressive questioning, Blanche Wells remained unfazed.
"Is that what she said? This is a huge misunderstanding."
"She wanted to prove she was special in Amos's eyes, so I told her to randomly pick someone to slap, to see if Amos would defend her."
"It was all just a joke, but who would have thought she'd take it seriously and coincidentally choose Miss Norris."
"I do bear some responsibility for this incident, Miss Norris, I'm sorry."
Despite Maya being young, she was quite perceptive and knew Blanche Wells's words weren't entirely credible, so she deliberately joked.
"Good thing it was a misunderstanding; I thought Wells was jealous of my Bertha's natural beauty."
"But jealousy is useless. As women get older, collagen gradually fades, and their skin condition can't compare to that of teenage girls."
