Bertha Haines had been knocking on the door for quite a while before Amos Smith finally opened it.
He had already showered, his short hair slightly tousled, and he was wearing a set of deep gray loungewear. If you sniffed closely, he seemed to carry a faint scent of wine.
"Is there something you need?"
His tone was not impatient, but it wasn't particularly welcoming either.
Bertha handed him the drawing she had prepared in advance: [Drawn with colored pencils.]
Amos stared at the drawing in his hand for a dozen seconds, then praised without reservation, "It's very well done, thank you for the gift."
Bertha smiled with a slight lift of her lips: [I'm not very good at watercolor painting, but once I improve, I'll give you a watercolor portrait.]
Amos: "Alright."
Seeing that the girl still had no intention of leaving, he asked softly.
"Anything else?"
Bertha shook her head but didn't leave.
Amos sighed, then asked, "Do you want to drink?"
