Chapter 277 - Chapter 277

"It's nothing. We have been expecting to hear news about my daughter's kidnap that took place yesterday. We have been so busy with getting her to recover from her wound." Williams said, and Maria felt like she was on the edge.

"I'm sorry to hear that, we will also look into that. But that is not why we are here. We have come for Dr Mike, and we checked in at the hospital this morning. A nurse informed us that he had been here at the Smith's mansion." The investigator said, and Mike wondered what could be happening.

"Why are you here for me? Is anything wrong?" Mike asked, and the investigator's face fell.

"I'm sorry to inform your Mr Mike, but your wife Patricia was murdered last night." The investigator said, and everyone was shocked.

"What did you just say now?" Mike fled to where the doctor was and asked him.

"We found her in her lifeless in the hotel room of Miss Angel Jonas at the early hours of this morning after a report got to us. Investigation is ongoing, but we already have enough evidence to convinct Miss Angel." the investigator said, and Mike slumped on the couch.

"What do you mean? What are you even saying?" Grace asked the investigator.

"We found your wife's phone and unlocked it. Here's what we found on it." the investigator added.

And if you do that. I'm going to expose you to Chris. I will tell him the girl is not his daughter and that you only stole her.

You would do no such thing you moron. Besides I didn't steal the child, my father bought the child. What does it even matter? The DNA test says the girl belongs to Chris.

That was because you made me change the DNA results. Have you forgotten?

I don't give a fuck. You are going to help me. You are going to put this poison in Jane's food or drink. I need her to die, and you will help me carry it out.

I'm not going to help you carry out your dirty acts.

But I helped you carry out yours. You were never pregnant with Mike's child. The pregnancy, the scans, the miscarriage! They were all fake, and I helped you staged it.

Whatever! Do whatever you want, Mike has filed for a divorce. So I have nothing to lose anymore. There isn't even a way for me to get in their midst. Mike doesn't want to see me. He's with Grace now.

What!

I don't care. You can find a way. Find an excuse to get into that mansion and do the damn job.

And I said no!!

Didn't you hear me?

If you won't help me, then you are better off dead.

The conversation between Angel was heard by everyone and then came the gunshot. It was so loud sending chills down everyone's spine.

"No! No!! This can't be happening." Mike lamented. He might not have loved Patricia but he didn't want her dead.

"We are so sorry for your loss, but we have to be on our way. Please excuse us, we will continue to update you and let you know if we need anything from you. In the meantime, let us know if you hear anything about Angel, she's currently on the run." the investigator stated.

"Thank you very much!" Williams said still in shock, and escorted the officers out.

"I knew that girl was evil! She even had the nerve to kill someone?" Madam Rebecca snorted.

"So I was right, Patricia was never pregnant with my child. All of it was nothing but lies." Mike sobbed unable to control his tears.

"And Jane isn't my daughter? I knew I should never have trusted her. She had this planned all along." Chris said.

"But that is not possible. I checked the result myself immediately after it came out. No one touched it before me, and Chris was the father." Mike insisted and everyone was thrown into confusion.

"If Chris is the father, then who is the mother? You clearly heard her say she bought the baby." Grace countered.

"She bought the baby?" Mrs Whitney asked and stood up from the couch. Realisation hit her, but she didn't want to believe it.

She remembered that she told the man that bought the twin girl to name the baby Jane after her mother.

"No, It can't be!" She gasped and Chris heard her.

"Did you sell the baby girl?" Chris confronted Whitney and she froze.

"What!" Jane jolted up.

"Son what are you saying?" Williams asked and Whitney slumped to the floor with tears streaming down her face.

"That's the only explanation for what happened to the Chris's twin. And how you were able to get the money to pay the hospital bill. You sold the girl, right?" Chris retorted his eyes burning with anger.

"What's going on here? Who sold what?" Jack asked.

"When Jane was pregnant. She had twins, a boy and a girl. She didn't know she was expecting two babies as she didn't go to an hospital." Chris began to explain.

"In a bid to settle the enormous bill, Mrs Whitney sold one of the babies, which was the girl. Apparently it was Angel and her father who bought the baby girl who is now Jane." Chris added and everyone turned on Whitney.

"Mrs Whitney, how could you?" Jane asked her in tears.

"I'm so sorry, you fell into a coma and was bleeding heavily after you had a difficult childbirth. There was no way I could have paid the bills, and we were poor." Whitney went on her knees crying.

"It was the only option I had at that time. You would have died if I hadn't done that. Please forgive me, I have lived with the guilt all these years." Whitney cried hard, her heart hurting so bad.

"So Chris and Jane are twins, and my brother is their father? How is that even possible?" Grace asked and Chris shut his eyes, knowing his secret has been revealed.

"Chris!" Jane called out to him and Chris turned to her with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry my love. Please forgive me! I didn't mean to hurt you, I was drunk and I didn't know what I was doing." Chris stammered and couldn't say anything more.

"You were the man from that night?" Jane asked her eyes filled with hope thinking he would say no.

"Yes Jane! I'm the horrible man who forced himself on you and the father of your children." Chris confessed and everyone stood up.

"No!" Jane felt her breath sieze, and then she felt dizzy. All of a sudden, she slumped on the floor and hit her head on the edge of the glass table, causing her to bleed heavily.
