Maria looked around the table and saw that everyone was almost done with their food, so she could say what she had been hoping to say; she just hoped this sat well with every one of them.
"Uhmm there is something I would like to suggest" Maria started and they all looked at her
"what's that mom?" Grace was the first person to ask.
"I've been thinking why can't Chris and Angel get back together?" she said and the entire table went silent, no one was expecting that statement from her, Grace looked at her with a shocked look on her and everyone dropped what they were doing and looked at her
Angel could not be any happier; this was the best thing that she had heard in years. This was the best thing she had ever heard in her life, but she tried her best not to let her expression show too much even though she was grinning from her ears to her mouth.
"Mom, how can you say that?" Grace said with the most disappointed look she has ever carried
"shut up, will you? What do you know about love?" Maria tried to shut her up because she knows she will dry to say something to counter what she is trying to say but right now what she needs is more support and not opposition, she needs to save her life at the moment, she can't afford to lose all she has worked for all her life so she has no choice but to succumb to what this bitch and her father wants.
"yea I don't know anything about love, but I know not to hurt the ones that I love by sleeping with their best friend or asking my son to marry the woman that he hates most in this world" Grace said and Angel frowned, she wished she could just kill this girl right now or just do something to shut her up, she's always bringing this up.
"And she's sorry, right Angel?" she asked her and she nodded
"yes Mother she replied and Maria scoffed inwardly, she would find a way to get rid of both her and her father very soon, but for now she needed to play along with them, just for a while
"your brother has moved on from it so why can't we all just do the same, she's a changed person I've seen that in her ever since she started living here, I've observed her well, she still loves your brother and she's doing everything in her power to seek his favour, I wish mother is here she would support me because I'm saying the truth," Maria said
"Maria will you just stop this nonsense, what in the world is wrong with you, the only reason we allowed this girl stay here is because of my granddaughter so she can get better and be able to talk" Williams said but Maria was not willing to give up, none of them understands what's going on.
"And she's already getting better, she talked yesterday, that's why Jane moved her fingers, she's getting better," Grace said
"you see that's more the reason why they need to get married, because of the child especially, my love remember how you and I started, you were not so sure about making me your wife, but when you found out that I was pregnant with your child you married me without any hesitation, that's the kind of sacrifice that we need to make in life, now look at it, you are so glad that you married me," Maria said, she hates to dig up her past like this but she needs to bring out all her cards like this.
"Besides my son still loves her, that's why he hasn't been able to be with another girl ever since, can't you all just see that, we just need to let him see that so he doesn't end up with someone that he doesn't love," she said
"Mom just stop, is there something that you are not telling us here that you suddenly decided to take sides with Angel against your son, well for your information Mom, my brother doesn't and will never again love this wench, he's in love with Jane and the moment she wakes up there are getting married so you both better stop being so delusional" she said and left the dining room in a rush, she just cannot stand her mom right now.
Williams also stood up and left, he couldn't believe such nonsense was coming out of her mouth, Chris who had not been saying anything but eating his food suddenly dropped the fork and looked up, Maria felt scared for a moment, even though he's not saying anything his reaction is the scariest
"Son you understand that I'm doing this for your good right?" she said trying to cajole him but he wasn't falling for it, he just stood up and left.
Kyle who is at the table was rendered speechless, he knows very little of what's going on in the house these days except if Grace calls and puts him in the know, seeing that the table is almost empty, he also stood up and leaves
Angel quickly rushed to Maria's side and held her hand
"Mother what are we going to do now?" she said and Maria flung her hand away
"don't you ever call me that again and get your hands off me, you better don't overdo things, I'm only doing this because of your father and nothing more," she said and stood up as well, leaving only her in the dining room.
Angel was left baffled, this moment she was sweet with her and the next she was cold towards her but she couldn't care less as long as she gets the job done for her and her father, and she needs to talk to her father, she needs to tell him everything to that just happened here and what that wench Grace said, never will she allow Chris marry that bitch maid of his.
