Chapter 394 - 398: A Plague of Phantoms: Realization of Weakness IX

"CHASE GAELBORG KINGSTON! WHAT! THE! FUCK?!" Jane screamed at the top of her lungs.

"WHAAAAAAAAT?" I screamed back.

I was inside the storage area of one of the moldworks warehouses. Moldworks East to be exact according to Jane. Jane, Iris, and Nate brought me here to see how many mana crystal cores and enchanted items I had made. Half of the warehouse was covered in gold, silver, and jade rings, bangles, pendants, and weapon hilts. While the other half was covered in mana crystal core containers, thankfully I had the foresight to label each container so you could tell what shaped evo cores was inside.

"There are like ten million inside here! Of each!" Iris snapped.

"Damn…I was a few million off…" I said with a grumble. Iris reached over and slapped me across the back of my head. "OW FUCK!" I barked then rubbed where I was slapped.

"Why the fuck do you have so many! When the fuck did you have the time?!" Jane yelled while pointing at the hoard, flabbergasted.

"I just made a little extra each day…" I started only to get slapped by Iris repeatedly on the arm.

"THAT IS MORE THAN A LITTLE EXTRA!" Iris barked.

"Stop hitting me! I'm fra-gi-lay!" I exclaimed and tried to jump away from Iris.

"You're a freaking idiot! No wonder you and your evos were wasting away! You nearly worked yourself to death!" Iris snapped.

"Ah, I see Starlight had a touch of the twinkle…" Grandpa Seamus said. He stepped behind me and looked at the warehouse filled with what would be considered a treasure trove to many warring countries right now. His expression turned a little concerned. "…well this might be more than a touch…"

"MORE LIKE BITCH-SLAPPED BY THE TWINKLE!" Iris yelled.

"Iris please stop yelling." Nate said calmly. Iris turned and looked at Nate like he was giving an unreasonable request.

"HOW CAN ANYONE NOT YELL WHEN LOOKING AT THIS INSANITY?!"

"Rather easily when you factor in the Chase's law of insanity which states anything that would be beyond the scope of ability for a normal person becomes possible for Chase especially when left unsupervised by his keepers." Nate said in a deadpan voice. Iris and Jane both frowned and glared at Nate.

"WE ARE NOT HIS KEEPERS!" They both yelled in unison. Nate gave them a soulless deadpan stare, cocking his head slightly. Both girls expression tightened under Nate's listless gaze then they drooped slightly. "We are his keepers…"

"That's what sisters are for." Grandpa Seamus said with a chuckle.

"Even ultra violent ones like you." I added with a smirk.

"ASS!" Iris and Jane snapped.

Grandpa Seamus looked back at the massive horde of items and mana crystal cores then at Nate and smirked deviously.

"Hate ta be the one that has ta inventory all this…who is that by the way?" Grandpa Seamus asked. Nate's head jerked so fast I'm sure I heard it snap.

"Stuff it under your skirt Scotsman!" Nate barked. Grandpa cackled and held his hands up diplomatically.

"It's a kilt…" Grandpa Seamus started then paused suddenly and looked to the door.

Bone-lasher warned. My vision suddenly blurred as Bone-lasher shared his electromagnetic vision with me. My consciousness was pulled to the courtyard outside the warehouse where a evo was rampaging and fighting a squad of Ogarai. The evo was heading towards the warehouse doors.

"Empress!" I yelled as I summoned her crystalline structure and flung it in front of me. Empress emerged from the structure just as the evo burst through the warehouse doors, sending one of the Ogarai flying past the girls, Grandpa, Nate and I.

Empress immediately leapt into action, literally. She jumped into the air and channeled burn attribute mana into the tops of her wings, releasing torrents of flames that propelled her downward. Empress raised her legs up and brought them down on the evo's head and slamming it into the concrete. The evo slid to a stop a few feet away from me, unconscious and twitching slightly with Empress standing on top of its head.

"Evo neutralized My Lord!" Empress said while casually extinguishing the flames on her wings with a flap before folding her wings.

The Ogarai that were chasing after the evo and the one gotten thrown then eyed Empress with reverence and respect. I looked to the Ogarai all of them were dressed in leather armor designed to look like ancient Roman scale armor. The Sho'lajah Artifact Company logo was branded on the armor right over the heart. However the one that had gotten thrown's armor was slightly different than the others, it had fur stitched into the collar and sleeves. It was the leader of the group.

"Sorry Star Shaper, evo broke lock up…" The thrown Ogarai apologized with a respectful bow.

"I've never seen this evo before…" Iris said. She walked over to Empress and her unconscious quarry and looked it over.

"It's a concept evo. Good boy Series: Rune hound." I said. Iris and Jane shared a look then looked to me.

"Good boy Series? I've never heard of this series Chase." Jane said.

"Because it's a concept series. I never made a mana crystal core for any evo in that series. Just the lysdale script." I said with a frown.

"That's obviously a lie!" Iris said then pointed to the still unconscious Rune Hound who's head Empress was still standing on.

"No! Its not! I never made a mana crystal core for any evo in that series, let alone the Rune hound!" I exclaimed defensively.

"Ummm, are you sure Chase?" Nate asked then looked back at the horde of mana crystal core containers. "Considering how many of these things you made are you sure all of them are only evos that we are actively selling?"

"Yes! Completely sure! I've only ever made Ogarai, Lugaloth, Lycan Zee Jaeger, Scare-adorable, Solaris Wolfen, and void drakes! In order to make a core I have to be in a mental state where my mind is only occupied with the lysdale script in order to make it." I explained.

"Then explain the conceptual evo that Empress is using as a perch." Jane said.

"I can't…yet." I said then walked over Empress and the downed Rune Hound.

Empress hopped off the evo's head the moment I got close and assumed a defensive position behind me. I crouched down then placed a hand on the Rune hound and channeled mana into its body. I quickly found what I was hoping not to find then frowned.

"It has a mana crystal core…it was shaped…" I muttered then frowned again.

"That only proves you did make it then!" Jane exclaims. I shook my head then used my mana to pull the Rune hound into my farm crystal. A crystalline structure quickly forms around the evo and it was recalled.

"The mana crystal core doesn't resonate with my mana. Mine overpowers it and rewrites the original signature, meaning it was made by someone else." I said as I stood. I looked over to leader of the Ogaria security team. "Was this evo made here or at another facility?"

"Here! High manager said it top priority…!" The Ogarai answered. I frowned then looked to Jane who had a confused look on her face as well.

"Might be time ta start asking questions Starlight." Grandpa Seamus told me.

"I think you're right Grandpa." I replied then started summoning Jiggles crystalline structure. "Jiggles!"

I flung his crystal behind me and the Ogrestian Paladin [1]emerged with a proud and loud trumpet. The Ogarai all stood at attention when Jiggles emerged, respect and awe gleaming from their eyes. Jiggles spared a glance to the Ogarai then turned his attention to me completely.

"Work with the Ogarai security teams at this facility to lock it down. Nobody leaves or enters." I ordered Jiggles.

"Of course Star Shaper!" Jiggles exclaimed then let out a loud trumpet which made all the Ogarai flinch. Jiggles stomped towards the warehouse door and all the Ogarai fell in line and followed him out the door.

"Is locking down the facility really necessary?" Nate asked.

"Someone created that mana crystal core for that rune hound and then managed to get it activated and put into a maturation tank. Someone is pulling strings in my company and its neither my Chief of Operations or security." I explained. Nate's expression darkened as he realized the implications.

"We need to talk to the manager of Moldworks East!" Jane proclaimed.
