Chapter 18 - Episode 18 – “Backlash & Belief”

[Scene: Social Media – 3 Days After His Post]

The internet had turned into a battlefield.

His fan pages split in half—some overjoyed, others enraged.

Comments flooded in:

> "This better be a phase."

"What even is this? Religion over fame?"

"I respect this."

"He's brainwashed."

"Wait—does this have to do with that girl people noticed in his likes?"

Memes. Hate. Fan edits. Conspiracy theories.

And yet, he didn't flinch.

He posted nothing more.

Just attended his study circles. Prayed five times a day. Watched the storms from a distance.

[Scene: Alvira's Room – Late Evening]

Her phone buzzed every minute with links and tags.

Her friends had seen it too.

Zaina sent:

"Did you see what they're saying about YOU?"

Alvira's fingers trembled as she opened the anonymous threads and Twitter threads pointing fingers at her.

> "Some Muslim girl must've manipulated him."

"We noticed her name in his likes. She's dangerous."

"How dare she…"

Alvira dropped her phone and pressed her hands over her ears.

Alvira (whispers, almost broken):

"Ya Allah… please protect my name… I didn't do anything wrong…"

[Scene: Ilham's Apartment – Same Night]

He scrolled through the hate.

Death threats. Slurs. DMs full of rage.

His label had sent him a "reminder email" to keep public appearances apolitical and non-religious.

He stared at the ceiling.

He had everything—and now, it felt like everything was turning into dust.

But deep down, peace remained.

He opened his Quran again.

Isa (softly):

"Let them hate. My peace isn't theirs to take."

[Scene: University Corridor – Morning]

Students whispered around Alvira, glancing at her.

Some screenshots of her old comments had gone viral.

Her cheeks burned with shame even though she had never crossed any lines.

Zaina walked beside her like a protective shield.

Zaina:

"Let them talk. You're not here for them. You know your truth."

Alvira (voice low):

"I never even spoke to him…"

Zaina:

"You spoke to your Lord. That's enough."

[Scene: Ilham's Apartment – Night Before Interview]

He was scheduled for his first public appearance since the Shahadah.

His stylist hesitated with the outfit.

Stylist:

"Are you sure you want to go with this?"

He wore a simple outfit—no flashy accessories. A subtle kufi rested near his prayer mat.

Ilham (smiling):

"I'm sure."

[Scene: Talk Show Interview – Global Broadcast]

Host:

"You've always kept your private life very… private. But this change—embracing Islam—has sent shockwaves. Why now?"

Ilham looked at the camera.

Ilham:

"Because I found truth. I found peace. I found a Lord who doesn't change like people do."

The crowd murmured.

Host:

"Is it for a girl?"

Ilham smiled faintly.

Ilham:

"I was guided through love. But I stayed for faith."

[Scene: Alvira's Home – Midnight]

She stayed up watching the entire interview.

Her heart pounded as he said those words.

Her eyes welled up, not out of longing, but from witnessing a dream that was no longer hers—but something greater.

She didn't know if he meant her. But she didn't need confirmation.

Alvira (whispers):

"Ya Allah… I didn't lose him. You brought him to You."

[Final Scene: Ilham's Journal – Closing Lines]

> *"They say I've lost fans, fame, everything. But I've found what people chase their whole lives—truth.

If she ever reads this, I want her to know: I pray beside her now.

Not in distance, but in direction."*
