"Murder! Murder!"
A shout disturbed the peace of Gravelsmore, the poshest area in Sherr county.
A woman found body parts in trash bags left on the side of a house built on a slope.
The shout woke up the half the people in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, a man was walking at a nearby road, his gait was light and he looked slightly cheerful, pushing his thumb out as nearby cars sped by.
Until finally, a car stopped,"Hey, where you goin?"
A dark skinned man could be seen as the slightly tinted windows rolled down.
"Ah, I have to get to 24th Street, could you give me a ride?"
The man in the car looked at him for a few seconds before unlocking the doors,"Get in...."
As he looked at the strange man entering his door, he asked for his name.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Raymond Williams, you can call me ray though."
"I see, I'm James Banks. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you as well, James, that's a nice name, I like that name."
James nodded his head as he asked," what were you doing all the way here? 24th Street is a bit too far to be walking."
"Ahah, yea, I was just driving my car around and I parked it at a place back there just to watch the scenery, and the car wouldn't start again, so I just spent the night in the car since there were very few cars on the road and none of them stopped for me."
"You didn't try for a cab?"
"Eh, I kind of didn't want to spend money, it's been slightly tight for me this month."
James was just about to reply when his phone interrupted him.
"Banks, if you are still near Gravelsmore, go and check it out, possible homicide at the Chief's."
"Copy that, I'll go immediately."
James said as he turned to look at Raymond,"I'm sorry, but this is as far as I can take you."
Raymond replied seriously as he got out of the car,"No, that's fine, I understand, Thank you anyway."
"Stay here, I'll call a cab for you. It might be dangerous."
"No-no, it's fine. I'll handle it."
"Are you sure?"
"Don't worry about me, you have more important things to worry about! I'm armed."
James' eyes narrowed,
"You are armed? get your ass in here, I'll have a patrol car get you home later.
And give me your gun, I'll give it back to you later."
Ray hesitated slightly before getting back in the car and giving up his gun.
"I hope that's all you have, Raymond."
"Yea, yea, that's all I had."
-----
*Screech*
"Alright, we are here, stay in the car. Do not move. Got it?"
"Understood, sir!"
James looked at him with his face solemn before exiting the car.
As he left, Ray snickered to himself,
"Life is good."
Meanwhile, James arrived at the crime scene to see a lone patrol car that had already pulled up and blocked off the area.
As he passed the tape strung across, he walked to the officer nearby.
"Status report."
"Sergeant James! it's the chief, his body parts were found in these trash bags around 10 minutes ago,
No suspect, no signs of forced entry in the house, everything is as it should be here."
James eyes widened as he looked at the body parts hanging out of the bags.
"Did you secure the perimeter? Did anybody hear anything? Any suspicious person? Any suspicious vehicle?"
"Sir, we still have yet to question anybody."
At that, James looked around to see a small crowd of people, and then back at the crime scene, the smell was heavy, flies were buzzing.
"Okay, round up the people, I'll question them myself, I'll take a look at the crime scene meanwhile."
Raymond had left the car meanwhile and came closer to the crime scene, he witnessed the scene of the officer leaving as James busied himself with the details of the crime scene.
"James, huh, let's see how this goes."
-----
10 minutes later, the area was surrounded with cop cars, Raymond leaned on a pole as he took on the scene of the James questioning the neighbours and getting frustrated at finding practically nothing.
James ended his questioning when he noticed Raymond out and about, he walked straight to Raymond.
"Didn't I tell you to stay in the car? Why are you out?"
"Ah, sorry about that, everyone was looking at me in the car, I felt like I was a prisoner and this early morning air feels quite nice, so I came out."
"How long were you here for?"
"Uhm, I'm not sure, maybe 10 minutes? Maybe more?"
James sighed and replied in an exasperated tone," I meant here, in this area, you said your car broke down."
"Ahhhh, I'd say give or take, Five maybe six hours?"
"What was your purpose, why did you decide to drive the car here?"
"Uh, is this a questioning, Sergeant James?"
Ray chuckled as he asked a question instead.
James erupted as he said,
"Answer the damn question, I'm not messing around... And yes, this is a questioning."
"Sorry, sorry, uhm yea, I was just riding around for the heck of it, really."
"Oh, is that right? Where is your car? Let's go see it, Maria! Come with me."
"Geez, alright, you are so rowdy."
James said,"This isn't a joke, there's been a murder, don't play with me, I'm not going to take this lightly."
"Of course, of course, my bad. It's right down the road by the cliff side at a junction."
