He used a black silk ribbon to blindfold himself, playing chess with the boy-and-girl twins purely by memory.
He even gave up two pieces, yet Little Four, Little Nine, and Henry Taylor together were still not his match.
"Lost again!..."
When Liam Yancey walked into the room, all he heard was the simultaneous groans of Little Four and Little Nine. The two adorable little ones had regretful expressions on their faces, yet their eyes were filled with admiration for Oskar.
"Brother Oskar is amazing! He's the smartest person in the world!" Little Nine clapped her hands, laughing joyfully, not at all upset by her loss, but rather excited.
Oskar and Little Four laughed together, both as brothers doting lovingly on their little sister. After a while, Oskar looked up, seeing Liam Yancey come in, his eyes flickering with delight.
"Daddy!" He sat up, and indeed looked in good spirits.
Liam Yancey acknowledged him, and the twins also turned their heads and crisply called out, "Daddy..."
