Liam Yancey dared not think further, his hands tightly clenched into fists.
He stood up, swung his right fist, knocking over the vase on the bedside table, which fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.
The piercing sound startled Four on the bed; he opened his eyes and suddenly stopped struggling, just staring at the ceiling with bloodshot eyes.
Both men were taken aback. Seeing that the child seemed to regain some consciousness, Liam Yancey immediately stepped forward, cupping his son's face and calling, "Four, look at Daddy, tell Daddy, where does it hurt!?"
The little boy did not understand, his eyes didn't shift, and it took two to three minutes before he sideways looked into the man's eyes.
Both father and son had bloodshot eyes, and after a long gaze, Four suddenly said, "Daddy, Daddy, I want to go home, Four wants Mommy..."
The child's voice was so hoarse it seemed about to shatter, and his words made Liam Yancey's heart ache unbearably.
