Chapter 546 - Chapter 521 - Souvenirs (Ruven Version) 2

"By the way, the mansion seemed a little lively—does that have anything to do with you all returning, Takumi-kun? Or is it something else entirely?"

"Fufu, we're getting another grandchild."

"A grandchild? A grandchild!? R-Really!?"

Matthias-san seemed to catch Rebecca-san's indirect wording just fine, and he looked back and forth between Wald-san and Rosalie-san.

"Ohh, that's wonderful news! Congratulations, Wald-san, Rosalie-san. I can't wait to meet the little one."

"Yeah, same here."

"Thank you, Father."

A heartwarming family moment… truly the perfect definition of familial harmony.

"Since Father-in-law is back, I imagine you and Takumi-san will want to have a proper discussion now, yes? Then I'll excuse myself for now."

"Ah, then I'll…"

"Oh my, Wald-sama, don't you still have things to discuss with Takumi?"

Rosalie-san, knowing that the more surprising souvenirs had yet to be shown, graciously offered to leave the room when Matthias-san returned—Wald-san tried to leave along with her, but she gently stopped him.

"Well… it should be finished already. But I'm just worried about you, Rosalie-san…"

Wald-san averted his gaze softly.

""There's still more~""

"...…"

Unfortunately for him, Allen and Elena were in the direction he looked, and they promptly nailed him with a reminder.

"My, my. In that case, I'll keep Rosalie-san company. Wald-san, you be sure to listen carefully, alright?"

"… Eh."

Blocked off by Rebecca-san, Wald-san slumped in defeat.

"Umm, what's going on exactly?"

With Rosalie-san and Rebecca-san leaving the parlor, Matthias-san tilted his head in confusion. He had arrived midway and missed the earlier conversation.

"We were showing off the souvenirs. For now, just the ones that wouldn't affect Rosalie-san's condition."

"I see, so the really surprising ones are coming now, huh?"

""That's right! Prepare to be shocked!""

"… Hahaha~"

At Allen and Elena's clear declaration, Wald-san let out a dry laugh.

""First is the branches~""

"Wait! At least give me some time to mentally prepare!"

""Nope! Oniichan, the branches~""

"Haha, the branches, right."

Going along with the kids, I brought out the four types of gemstone branches.

If I followed Wald-san's pace, we'd never get through them.

"These are…"

"Whoa…"

As expected, Matthias-san and Wald-san both reacted with astonished voices.

"So this is what His Majesty mentioned… amazing stuff."

"Wait, you already knew about this!? And these are real gemstones, right? Not just some well-made fakes!?"

Matthias-san had apparently heard about it from Tristan-sama and stared at the branches with a satisfied, understanding look. Wald-san, on the other hand, looked at him in shock—clearly not expecting him to know.

""Aren't they amazing~?""

"Yes, incredibly so. And so beautiful. Thank you for showing them to me."

""They're souvenirs~!""

"I thought you were just showing me as a story from your trip?"

""Nope!""

"Oh?"

Matthias-san's eyes widened, realizing it wasn't just show-and-tell.

Wald-san was utterly speechless, looking like he had nothing left to say.

""Can we decorate with them? Can we?""

"Hmm… Displaying them might be unsafe."

""Unsafe?""

"It means it could be dangerous. So instead, we'll keep them stored safely. But we'll take them out now and then to admire together as a family."

Matthias-san accepted the gemstone branches quite easily.

"Next up~"

"Coming up next~"

"Wait, there's more!? Can't we stop here already?"

""No way~""

"Next is this, I guess."

Next, I took out the teleportation magic tool.

"This is… a teleportation magic tool!?"

"Takumi! This one's not okay!!"

Both Matthias-san and Wald-san immediately recognized what I had taken out.

"I don't think it's a problem. With this at the Ruven estate, it'll be easier to communicate. Please accept it. I've already given one to the Risner family."

"Huh!? The Risner family already has one!?"

"Well, technically I'm still the owner. I just registered Cedric-san and the others as users and left it at their estate."

"I see… Wait, no! That's not okay either!"

Wald-san seemed ready to accept the explanation when I said it was a loan, but still pushed back.

"This will make it easier not only for me, but also for the Ruven and Risner families to communicate with each other!"

"You're still the owner, right?"

"Yes. I would've been fine gifting it, but Cedric-san said absolutely not—so we settled on letting them hold on to mine temporarily."

"Got it. Then we'll gratefully accept it for our household as well."

"Father!?"

"It's a good thing to be able to contact Takumi-kun immediately."

"Guhhhh…"

Considering the benefits, refusing would be a waste. Even Wald-san, despite his grumbling, eventually accepted it—slumping again in defeat.

"Well then, I'll quickly go ahead and register the users."

The owner registration and ID sync with my own and the one at the Risner house were already complete. All that was left was user registration and notification settings.

"I'll register you two, Matthias-san and Wald-san, and eventually Velio-san as well—how about anyone else?"

I was thinking perhaps Rebecca-san, Rosalie-san, and Almeria-san as well.

"Best not to have too many. Just me and my two sons will do."

"Understood."

Matthias-san's preference for limited access mirrored Cedric-san's.

I quickly registered Matthias-san and Wald-san and ran a test with the device linked to mine. After a few tries and some familiarity, I had them send a short message to Cedric-san to confirm the successful setup.

"If you prefer, the notification sound can be turned off, Wald-san. Want me to mute it?"

"No need. This level of sound won't interfere even during missions. It'll act as a sign that you have contacted me."

Apparently, while the sound echoes in your mind, it's not loud enough to be disruptive.

"Just so you know—it might also be messages from the Risner house! Or letters from the kids!"

"Both of those could be serious matters too."

"...…"

Maybe Wald-san is being a bit too cautious… but I guess that's expected from a knight—it's practically an occupational hazard.

"Oh, and since leaving it around the estate might feel unsafe, here's a magic bag to go with it! You can keep it in your room or carry it around!"

"Hey! You can't just toss in a magic bag as a freebie!"

"Hahaha~"

Wald-san kept complaining without giving up—his persistence really is admirable.
