The Black Robe might go mad whenever he appears in the Underworld, but that is because this powerful mage exchanged his sanity for power... if he is a Level 45 Archmage under the sunlight, he almost instantly becomes a Level 50 powerhouse that can even kill deities after entering the Underdark.
