"Do you need something from me?" Luke imagined a poker face.
"If I'm not mistaken, you just detained two people. It's a misunderstanding. They're my subordinates. If they've offended you, I apologize."
"This isn't about an apology. I need a reason. Why are Department of Homeland Security people following me?"
"We're not following you; we're protecting you." Dansri Cobbs sighed and explained, "This afternoon, the terrorists released a new threat video. In the video, they mentioned you. I'm worried they might retaliate against you, so I arranged for someone to protect you in secret."
Luke laughed, "Since when does the LAPD need the Department of Homeland Security for protection?
We met this afternoon, and I even asked you if the terrorists might retaliate. Why didn't you tell me then?"
"Only people from the Department of Homeland Security know about that threat video. I couldn't easily disclose it to outsiders. Besides, I hinted to you."
"Thank you." Luke hung up the phone.
