Lucas Quinn immediately called Charlotte Allison, but her phone just wouldn't connect.
His heart sank deeper and deeper, with a growing sense of unease.
Just as he got yet another failed connection and was about to contact someone to intercept Charlotte, Charlotte called back.
"Charlotte! Don't leave the airport, wait for me there!" His voice was heavy, suppressing anger mixed with relief and worry.
"What's wrong? My phone just died, I charged it and turned it on, I'm on my way back..."
Before she could finish, a loud crash overwhelmed her words.
Lucas's heart stopped with that sound, he took a sharp breath, shock gripped him fiercely, piercing deeply into his heart, bloodied.

All he could do was shout at the phone, his eyes crimson red!
