"Any important business today, Mr. Hughes?" Charlotte Allison closed the book in her hands, took a sip of the still-warm coffee beside her, concealing her disdain as she dealt with him impassively.
"It's been a while, feels like little Charlotte has grown distant from me?" Nathaniel Hughes teased, as if unintentionally.
"Oh, really?" Charlotte Allison also responded casually, easily glossing over the question.
Nathaniel Hughes reached out and took the book Charlotte was looking at, flipping through it nonchalantly.
"I heard about what happened between Edward and Hazel Allison. It's not right, even though you two weren't officially engaged. We all know about the connection between you two; what they did was disrespectful to you, and it shouldn't have happened."
Nathaniel Hughes spoke as if seeking justice for Charlotte Allison.
"I don't care, I've already clarified things. What they do is not related to me," Charlotte Allison said.
