Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: There's Something Wrong with This Wine

She poured a glass of red wine for Charlotte Allison with a playful tone:

"Sister, you treat me the best. Thank you for throwing me such a wonderful birthday party. I want to celebrate with you again next year."

Charlotte Allison watched the red wine being poured into her glass, her gaze icy.

In her past life, this glass of wine had been spiked. Shortly after drinking it, the effects kicked in, and Hazel Allison sent her off to rest, using drunkenness as an excuse.

Midway through, for reasons unknown, the person Hazel arranged was swapped with Lucas Quinn, and after a chaotic scene, she fell into unconsciousness, waking up to the sound of a commotion, already in the hospital.

The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was Jackson Vance's worried expression and Hazel Allison's guilt-ridden, pale face.

Outside the ward, there was a crowd of people eager to report on her condition first-hand.

The media maliciously reported the incident, twisting the truth to suggest she was targeted for revenge by hired goons, and the culprits confessed readily to the police.

There were also various negative rumors about her so-called improper private life and unscrupulous work methods starting to surface.

Within a short period, the Allison Corporation's stock price plummeted; internally, elite teams were defecting, employees were defaming the group, leading to internal chaos; partners were terminating contracts despite hefty damages...

She was overwhelmed with exhaustion.

Jackson Vance was the first to step forward in support, offering to use Azure International's resources to help the Allison Corporation through this crisis.

Charlotte Allison was greatly moved, only to realize later that it was all part of his scheme.

From the day he returned to the country, he had everything prepared, waiting for her to walk into the trap.

Lucas Quinn's unexpected appearance did not disrupt their plan; the people he had bribed alleged that they had assaulted her.

If it weren't for the student ID Charlotte found in an inconspicuous corner of the bedside table, she would have almost been deceived by the pervasive lies, thinking it was all a dream.

At the time, she had suspected many competitors, but never thought it would be Jackson Vance.

They had known each other since childhood, and she had always regarded him as a gentleman as gentle as jade, never expecting him to be so cunning and deep-minded.

It was even more unexpected that Hazel and he had long been in cahoots!

Charlotte Allison, clever all her life, suffered an unprecedented and intense downfall!

"Sister?" Hazel Allison called out in confusion, staring at Charlotte Allison, who had been silently gazing at the glass of wine for a while.

Charlotte Allison took a small sip: "Hmm."

Hazel Allison saw that she didn't drink much, but wasn't impatient, knowing there would be plenty of opportunities to drink.

As Hazel Allison turned to drink with Jackson Vance, Charlotte Allison leaned slightly to whisper to Lucas Quinn, secretly wiping her mouth, then unobtrusively swapped her glass of wine.

Lucas Quinn noticed her subtle actions, becoming increasingly eager to see how things would unfold.

Before long, Charlotte Allison lowered her eyes, leaning against the sofa, seemingly appearing drunk.

Seizing the opportunity, Hazel Allison immediately found someone to suggest taking her to rest.

"I'll take care of it." Lucas Quinn supported Charlotte Allison, and she leaned against his shoulder, unexpectedly finding it broad and quite comfortable.

"Then take my sister and follow them," Hazel Allison instructed the two escorts with a signal, looking at Charlotte Allison leaning on Lucas Quinn as if she was unconscious from intoxication.

As Lucas Quinn led her away, Charlotte Allison heard someone joking behind her, "Mr. Allison's tolerance seems to be getting worse and worse."
