The town was drowning in praises for its new heroes, while in a gloomy city not far away, a father and daughter lived in quiet solitude. One evening, her father sent her out to buy dinner. When she returned the food came crashing down to the ground—her father lay motionless, a sword driven through his neck Her body froze, her eyes wide with shock and grief. Before she could even process it, the mysterious killer turned toward her. Seeing her small frame trembling, he mistook her for weak prey. With cold intent, he charged in for a close-quarters strike.
The blade sliced through the air toward her—but she caught it. Barehanded. Blood poured down her arm as the edge carved into her flesh, yet she did not flinch. Slowly, she rose to her feet, her grip tightening until she wrenched the weapon from his hand and cast it to the floor.
The killer's heartbeat thundered in his chest. He faltered as she stepped forward, seized his face, and forced him down. Her voice cracked, dulcet and broken, she asked
"who are you?"
With the anger in her she enclosed the mask in her hand—crushing his skull in her palm, Bone splintered, blood erupted. She turned her head toward them. Slowly, her lips curled into a wicked smile. In a hushed, venomous whisper, she uttered:
"Run."
They smirked beneath their masks and lunged at her—they went blind and their bodies began to feel agonizing pain that slowly built up till they combusted. Blood and viscera painted the walls, coating the silence that followed.
When it was over, the room was nothing but carnage. She stepped through the blood, her shoes leaving prints in the red-soaked floor, until she reached her father's body. Kneeling, she lifted his severed head into her trembling arms.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gazed into his lifeless eyes. With a trembling whisper, she said:
"I'm sorry Dad, I swear I'll kill them.....all of them"
She pressed his eyelids shut, kissed his forehead, then slowly stood. Her fist clenched. Her lip bled where she bit down hard, swallowing the storm inside her.
