Chapter 39 - chapter 39

Tris

'Leo... Can you talk to me?' I asked through the link. I hoped I wasn't disturbing him.

'Yes, BB, what happened?' He sounded worried.

'We're heading toward the field. Any updates?' I asked while putting on my seatbelt.

'We got the four sealing witches. What else do we need?' He asked.

'Yes, but I don't know if the seal is going to work or not because that dark magic is too strong. I'm going to talk to Mom about the rituals'. K was driving because I wasn't familiar with the area yet.

'Please be okay, BB' Leo's voice was low.

'Don't worry, we got this' I replied cheerfully, but deep down, I was more worried than him. We didn't know what we would face there.

"K, where are we going?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I need to give you a whole area tour so you understand where we're heading," she said.

"Our pack house is in the middle of the city." She circled her finger in air.

"Yeah, I at least know that much." Atleast I know the base.

"Then there's a whole six km of woods surrounding it, then the city around us. To the north is the Warlock Mansion, and to the south, there's a bridge that connects us to the layman's city," K explained.

"And to the east, we have our old pack house, which is now run by Dad and Mom. They gave us the new one when Leo became Alfa. But the whole intension was kicking us out for their privacy," she laughed aloud.

It's so like them, still young at heart. I blushed.

"So where are we heading?" I asked.

"We're going toward the bridge. That thing is coming toward the pack house. It's already covered fifty percent of the area," K sighed.

'Leo... are you listening?'I tried to reach him again. He seemed busy.

"Has something like this happened before? Like attacks and stuff?" I asked.

"Yes, it used to happen a lot when I was young. Bro wasn't here then. Dad used to handle it alone, and we benefited from having witches with us. But after some time, it stopped, and we went on living normally." K sighed.

"What kind of attacks were they?" I asked.

"You know, some rich people wanting to steal our area for their own benefit. And some attacks were from witches and warlocks who were against us being together — werewolves and witches."

"Weren't werewolves against you too?" They should be, for having witches on our side.

"They were, but Dad was the supreme Alpha, and he showed them how beautiful it was to be in love. Love has no boundaries," K said.

"Any more attacks after that?" I asked, digging more information.

"Yeah, a werewolf who was Beta under our grandfather, still hates us. He comes to fight every now and then, but it's not serious — just challenges for power. By the way, he became Alpha after Grandpa died," K added. "Alpha Render"

"Do you think any of them could be behind this kind of attack?" I suspected.

"Nah, I don't think so. Black magic isn't in practice anymore. Aunt Shalina is a powerful witch, so it's kind of not possible," K replied. " And a person who hates witches, not gonna use a witch"

"But it is happening." I said.

Ranthore: "For black magic, you have to be powerful and practice it often. Witches have sensors for detecting when someone uses powerful dark magic," he said robotically.

Bethney: "Maybe they are using sealing magic before practicing it," she said while holding my seat and whispering in my ear.

"I see." I was trying to connect this whole conversation.

'BB, you there?' Leo reached out through the link.

'Leo, I was trying to contact you.' he made me worried.

'I know. Sorry, I was busy.' his voice made me ease.

'It's okay. Did you talk to the sealing witches? Can they seal it?' I came to the point.

'They said it's not impossible, but they're not sure either. It's their first time encountering dark magic.' it's been so long they fight with Dark ones I guess.

'What about Mom?' I have to make some conversation with her.

'She's super excited. They just left.' why he is excited.

'Is there any way I can contact them?' I asked.

'Fairal and a few werewolves are going to guard them. Ask K to contact him.'

'Okay, thank you.' we ended our connection here.

"K, can you contact Fairal?" I turned towards K.

"Yeah. What do you want me to ask?" She was confused.

"Ask him what their strategy is."

"He sucks, by the way. Always flirty. Give me a minute," she rolled her eyes. After some time K told us her talks with him.

"He said: 'Babe, are you missing me? I hope you're not lonely without talking to me…' Ugh. Anyway, the point is: 'The witches are going to cover the area and perform the rituals. Aunt Shelina is leading. PS: Love you.'"

Ranthore: "Creepy."

Bethney: "Did he flirt with you too?"

Ranthore: "He has no boundaries."

"Thank God, Tris, you didn't talk to him. He's obsessed with couples. Stay away from him if possible," K warned.

"He's not afraid of Leo?" I asked in disgust.

Ranthore: "He has no boundaries."

"Okay, I get it," I said, raising my hands in surrender.

"I want to talk to Mom," I said. Better to know the details.

"Let's make a portal when we reach our location," K said.

"You guys know how to make portals, right?"

Ranthore: "I focus only on my thing."

Bethney: "I know, but just a finger can go through." She made a cute, nervous smile.

"Okay, that's enough. I just want to talk." I said.

After crossing the woods and half of the city, we reached the bridge. We got out of the car. There were a few buildings and empty roads. I saw a few people lying around — must be under sleeping spells. Some had scratches and bloodied nails.

"I think it came from the bridge," K said.

"My senses aren't that developed, but I can feel a chill and a foul smell," I said.

"That's it — strong rotten smell everywhere. I feel like puking," K said.

We heard something. We all turned toward the sound. A wolf walked toward us — light blue fur, silky, with dark blue eyes. It held a backpack in its mouth.

"Oh, Babe!" K jumped and hugged the wolf.

"What are you doing here?" She took the bag, covered the wolf with a cloth, and it transformed into Olivia.

"Olivia!" I was shocked.

"I had to bring my own bag so I wouldn't end up wearing clothes not to my taste again," she said.

"Why are you here?" I asked as K helped her dress.

"I wasn't planning to come, but Dija couldn't focus, so I had to. Plus, win-win," she kissed K. But K pushed her.

"So you weren't worried about me?" K narrowed her eyes.

"I'm here, okay? If I wasn't worried, would I be here? I fought them to be with you," Olivia said, hugging her from behind.

"You're cute," K said, kissing her.

"Okay guys, let's move," I interrupted their romantic moment, pretending to wipe imaginary tears.

'BB, something's wrong' Leo contacted through link.

'What happened?' I asked, his sudden approch startled me.

'It changed direction' he said.

'Where is it heading now?' I asked.

'Toward the library' library? Why? That's weared.

'Did you bury something important there, Leo?' I knew it, it's not just some Library.

'So many things, basically our secret base' He said.

' But The rituals are going to be before the pack house' I said.

'I think it sensed that and changed direction.'. He said.

'Anyway, did you isolate people from that area?' I asked.

'Yes, they're in the pack house and Warlock Mansion.' he said.

'That's a relief. What about healers?' I hope they are safe.

'Not yet — we're low on them.' really? That's big problem.

'My mom will take care of it, but send one backup. And Leo, thank you for sending Olivia.' I was blushing.

'She forced herself on us,' he said, clearly hiding that he wanted it too. Cute.

While I was talking to Leo, K searched Olivia's body.

"Why don't you have the blood mark of the seal?" K asked.

"Should I do the spell?" Bethney asked, about to slit her palm.

"I have it in wolf form, Babe," Olivia said, cupping K's face.

"Bethney, make the portal to Mom," I said.

"On it," she replied.

We all looked around.

"It's done," she said.

"Where's the portal?" K asked.

"Here, guys," Bethney pointed to the air.

"Are you sure a finger can go in there?" K teased.

We all laughed.

"At least you can talk, as I said," Bethney pouted.

"Mom, can you hear me?" I asked.

"Bubble, where are you?" she asked.

"We don't have time for that. Listen, if you can't seal it, what will you do?"

"I don't know. We're all just hoping it works," she said.

"You're the only supreme — is that even possible?"

"Bubble..." she sounded worried. I had a bad feeling too.

"It's going towards Library, what we can do now" I said. "And we are also low in healers so don't get hurt."

"Why it changed directio?" She asked. " As for healers, I will handle it"

"Okay Mom, take care." Bethney closed the portal.

"We need to find out more. What are you guys smelling besides the rotten smell?" I asked as we walked forward.

"Something like fruit," Olivia answered quickly.

"Sweet — like Granny said. She was a witch." K said.

"And other blood smells — I know this smell. One is from a witch I used to know," she added.

"We used to know," K corrected.

"She was my ex," Olivia said.

"Aren't you guys bonded with mates?" Ranthore asked.

"We didn't have a thing back then," Olivia replied calmly.

"She was a witch bitch. Olivia broke up with her, but she kept clinging like a lich!" K shouted.

"Okay guys, what else?" I asked, taking notes.

"She was a psycho. She wasn't in love — just wanted to be Luna for the fame," K added.

"What's her name?" I asked.

"Loria," K said.

"What else?" Let's move on from her.

"She pulled a lot of stunts and troubled us." K still sticking in her.

"Okay, next? Please" I looked at K.

"Don't know the rest," Olivia said. "I do smell something familiar," she added, looking at her mate. She transformed again into her beautiful wolf form.

"It's more accurate this way," K said proudly.

We followed Olivia as she led us toward the dark magic's direction, sniffing and shaking her head in disgust.
