"The. Next. Fertilization. Event. Will. Commence. Soon," a female arakai clicked, kneeling before a bare Divine Mother. "We. Have. Gathered. The. Most. Meritorious. Males. In. The. Fallen. Rain. Cell."
Divine Mother o-ooooo glanced at the female servant, before nodding, before glancing around at the male corpses around her. "Clean. Up. All. Of. These. Bodies."
Male reproduction in the arakai species was a lethal event. It usually came with the death of the males involved. Those that did survive were crippled. Reproduction was fundamentally a more brutal and ruthless event in arakai society. The arakai didn't have DNA-like blueprints that could be contained in each cell, but rather their blueprint stretched across their bodies across a fine web of interconnective tissue that needed to be destroyed in the process of passing that information on during the fertilization event.
