As the battle between the Knight Templars and the Brotherhood warriors was ongoing outside the city of Jerusalem. John from the Watchers Order led his fellow Watchers on their way out of the city.
They rode on horses that were lightly packed with their meagre belongings. As faithful members of the Watchers Order, they had taken an oath not to accumulate earthly wealth or own property, and as such, they had little in terms of worldly possessions. Every morning or evening during Mass, they had to recite the Watchers Oath to remind themselves of the life they had chosen and the sacredness of their purpose.
Besides their Order robes and a few spare items of clothing, they were not meant to hold any property that was not to the benefit of their Order. Each member of the Order, whether a Novice or a senior member, was conversant with the vow.
Thus goes the Watchers Oath or vow.
