Chapter 17 - Oh...shit.

"Well..." Phina looked Silyoung up and down. "are you gonna dance with me or not?"

"I..." Silyoung looked around for help. He was not a bad dancer, but he wasn't good. If he stepped or her feet or tripped while dancing, he would embarrass, not only himself, but an Enforcer as well.

During his desperate looks for help, he found his saving grace. An angel with a heart of gold. Kara approached Phina and whispered to her, "Phina, do you even know how to dance? Please don't embarrass us, we still have a reputation to uphold."

It was then that it occurred to Phina that she was technically not even invited. She was only there due to Kara, and anything she does will reflect on Kara and her Kinus family. Phina's face flushed from embarrassment as she looked at Silyoung. "I-I guess we aren't close enough to dance...it was nice meeting you."

She then turned around and started powerwalking away from the small group and into the crowd. Jack could barely contain his laughter as his face was a deep red from holding the monstrous laughter in. If he let it out, some might think that Royal Vulture was laughing inside the hall.

"I guess I'll have to make do with what I know I can do." Phina sighed to herself. She looked up and saw all the nobles giving her weird looks. She approached one of the groups that was looking at her. They immediately looked away as they pretended to have been conversing.

"What's up?" Phina looked at them with crossed arms.

"Pardon?" one of the men asked with a nervous smile.

"Why're you staring?" Phina wrinkled her eyebrows.

"I...I...um..." the man was flabbergasted. Everybody knew that new nobles were going to be stared at, evaluated, by their peers. Yet he was shocked, new nobles were not usually this bold.

"I apologize. It seems we got off on the wrong foot here. I am Lord Emil Sparks." Emil bowed his head slightly while putting his right hand on his chest. His silver hair contrasted his young looking face. His silver suit complimented his hair very well. He had a rapier on his left hip and an earring on his left ear. The earring almost captivated Phina when she noticed it. It was a beautiful transparent earring filled with a silver liquid.

"My name's Seraphina. Seraphina Ender." Phina put out her hand. Emil just looked at Phina's hand.

'She already wants to be business partners? I don't even know what she trades in, and her attitude makes me think she doesn't know who I am.' Emil thought to himself. 'I should not reject her outright. She is not scared in this court, so she either is very confident in her family's potential or she has faced much worse.'

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Seraphina. I assume your parents are Grade 8 nobles. Am I correct?" Emil smiled.

"No." Phina said. She then whispered to herself, "At least I don't think so."

"I'm sorry, but are you a servant?" Emil looked at her with confusion.

"No, I'm not a servant." Phina raised an eyebrow. 'Why does he think I'm a servant? Did Kara buy me cheap stuff?'

"Then are you a bodyguard?" the 19 year old noble's confusion shot through the roof. 'How in the law did this woman make it inside? If she's not a Lady or servant, then she can only be a bodyguard. But what kind of bodyguard would wear a dress while working?'

"I'm kind of a bodyguard, I think." Phina put a hand on her chin as she started thinking. "I guess you can say I'm a type of bodyguard."

"Then why are you not guarding your employer?" Emil said with a hint of disappointment and mix of anger in his voice. 'I am just wasting time here.'

"Oh, don't worry." Phina smiled. "Kara's with Jack, right now. Oh, Jack's another bodyguard. He's more of the standard bodyguard."

"Kara?" Emil looked to his friend group behind him with confusion.

"I think she means Dr. Marrow Kinus's daughter, Kara Kinus." a silver-haired girl walked forward. She looked very similar to Emil, albeit a little younger. She looked about 16 years of age. She dawned a blue dress that complimented her ocean blue eyes. Her long silver hair dropped to the middle of her back and her bangs covered all the way to her eyebrows. Her small pretty face had a slight smile on it. "I think she's a hired emotional guard, Emil. The ones that nobles hire to help their young girls make it through hearing gossip about them."

"Hahaha!! What!?" Phina laughed so hard she had to hold her stomach. "How fragile is your damn ego for you to hire something like that?!"

Almost everyone in the party started looking at Phina as if she was insane. Emil looked to her and asked, "Does that mean-"

"Oh, for law's sake, Emil." Emily, Emil's younger sister, interrupted him. She then said loudly, "Kinus! Kara Kinus!! Come get your guard."

"Oh shit..." Kara cursed underneath her breathe as she heard the party host call her. She quickly rushed there. "Yes, Lady Emily?"

"Get your damn servant off the floor please." Emily looked at Phina with disgust. Meanwhile, Phina was on the ground holding her stomach, laughing like maniac.

"Seraphina!!" Kara looked at Phina in disbelief.

"I'm...I'm sorry." Phina said in between breathes. She then chuckled lightly. "I just didn't think that a human could be hired as an emotional support animal! HAHHAHA!!"

She then exploded into laughter once more.

Jack then punched her in the stomach lightly.

"OOF!!" Phina immediately stopped laughing as she glared at Jack. "What the hell?!"

"Stop making a scene." Jack whispered to Phina. "You've already embarrassed the Kinus family enough."

"What are you tal-"

It was only then that Phina noticed that everyone was looking at her. 'You have got to be fucking kidding me...'
