Charlotte Thompson raised her eyes somewhat puzzled to look at Riley Thompson, feeling a bit inexplicable about her inquiry.
"Miss Riley, is there something you need?"
Charlotte's tone was flat, without a trace of emotion, but it carried a vague sense of indifference and aloofness.
Riley also noticed this, which made her movements a bit uneasy. She lowered her head, gently twisting the hem of her clothes with her fingertips.
Finally. As if gathering her courage, she said to Charlotte, "I would like to invite Miss Thompson to dinner to express my gratitude."
