Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 – About Atsushi’s Ability and a Check from Minamoto

Third person POV

"Everything, Atsushi-kun," Arturo replied with a smile.

His smile made Atsushi and the others a bit bewildered by his chilly style of relaxing after that intense battle.

The scene ended with Michizou and his gang retreating from the office with Michizou yelling to him, "It's not over yet, shadow brat! We'll strike you again next time!"

As their noise faded, Arturo said to the gang while waving a hand dismissively, "Yeah, thanks for the fight! You're also welcome back here anytime—provided that I'm the one here to greet you!"

Atsushi and Junichiro were twitching their eyes because of his leniency while Kunikida was almost losing his mind like he was vibrating on the brink of a mental breakdown.

Kenji, meanwhile, was amazed by Arturo's line.

Meanwhile, in Minamoto's office in the Tala University of Yokohama, a student ran to Minamoto, who was munching on his pastillas, and gave his reports on the attack in the Agency. "Sir, the Agency had been attacked by the Port Mafia! The leader was that Michizou Tachihara! And…"

"Oh, okay," Minamoto turned to him while balling the pastillas wrapper, "and what?"

"It was that Byeon Arturo who handled the gang," the student, an Italian sophomore named Lorenzo Giocco, replied back.

He was in the university's Business Management course and one of Minamoto's messengers and spies on the Agency's and the Port Mafia's movements with each other; that student was one of Minamoto's primary eyes on the city's underworld, and Minamoto rarely looked this rattled.

Hearing that, Minamoto let out a relief, but relaxed sigh, for the Filipino Korean's safety and bravery. "That was close; good, and as for the damages caused by Michizou and his gang?"

"It was…a big one, sir," Lorenzo replied while rubbing his forehead of sweat from running.

With that and without a word, Minamoto pulled out a checkbook. Most of the money were government funds, strictly allocated for "city stability"—and in his eyes, keeping the Agency functional was the definition of stability. He scribbled a hefty and generous amount, pulled the check from the pad, and handed it to Lorenzo. "Deliver this to Director Yukichi Fukuzawa, immediately."

"Yes, sir!" Lorenzo bowed sharply and hurriedly bolted back towards the door to deliver the check.

Meanwhile, back at the Agency, Kunikida, though was grateful for Arturo's intervention, gave a lecture to the student for putting his life in danger because…

"These guys are among the most dangerous people here in Yokohama!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the bullet-riddled walls. "They are the Port Mafia, Arturo. They don't 'spar' and they don't 'play.' They bring nothing but calculated and cold violence to anyone who dares to cross them!".

Arturo took the scolding with surprising stoicism, but his eyes remained sharp as ever. "I understand the danger, Kunikida-san. But I'm serious about Atsushi-kun here. Why the 'Weretiger' as a nickname for him? What makes him such a prize for people like the Port Mafia?"

Kunikida was dumbfounded by his blunt defiance and questions regarding Atsushi; his left eye was twitching because of that.

Atsushi then came forward and revealed his ability, the Beast Beneath the Moonlight, and he went on to explain what it was and how it worked.

Now his pseudo-cousin gets what he had said. "Oh…that makes sense…" he murmured. He looked at Atsushi, his expression softening into one of fierce resolve and determination. "But I'm not changing my mind here, everyone. I'm not leaving this Agency undefended."

Everyone in the Agency stared at him, being caught between admiration and utter bewilderment at his resolute stubbornness.

And then, Dazai and the Agency's director, Fukuzawa, were returning from their errand when Lorenzo crossed paths with them, holding the check from Minamoto. "Fukuzawa-san!" he yelled while panting for his breath, thrusting an envelope containing the check at the Director. "The Agency's been hit by the Black Lizard! This is from Minamoto-san, for the repairs and the furniture replacements."

Accepting the check, Fukuzawa was stunned, and his brow furrowing as he took in the news, while Dazai was rather amused by it and merely leaned back and let out a playful hum.

"My, my, we had missed the show, right, Director?" Dazai smirked playfully at that.

"Shut up, Dazai-san." Lorenzo wasn't amused. "Not funny, that cost a lot, and Mr. Byeon had to take care of the gang, you know…"

Dazai's smirk didn't disappear, but his eyes did turn thoughtful. As Lorenzo hurried off, he and Fukuzawa turned towards the building, being ready to see exactly what kind of "everything" Arturo had handled by going inside and going upstairs to the Agency.
