Xu Chang'an does not believe in the concept of past or future lives, as for retaining memories of a "previous life"... this does not contradict his disbelief in reincarnation.
He wants to do everything to the best of his ability in this life. If he cannot take good care of the lady in this life, then what is the point of talking about the next life?
The concept of the next life is something Xu Chang'an cannot entertain, as in a world with cultivation, it can easily become an excuse for shirking responsibilities.
Thus, Xu Chang'an only cares about this life and this world.

"I don't quite understand." Yun Qian paused before saying, "The book says that the Heavenly Dao's circulation and reincarnation are the Supreme Principle of Heaven and Earth."
Some matters are things Yun Qian cannot think about in detail.
