As I made my way cautiously forward to investigate the source of the howl, my entire body began to quake. When I needed to create a small hole in a leaf, I made sure that my movements were as silent as possible to avoid making the situation any more dangerous.
Where did that hollering sound originate? I do not doubt that it was nearby! While I was looking through the narrow opening, I questioned myself. I don't see any movement, but I have a distinct impression that someone is hiding outside.
"grr ..."
I concentrated all my attention on the thick section of the forest because that was where I sensed a tremendous threat. And before I know it, I'm gasping in surprise as I catch sight of a pair of blue eyes staring in my direction.
It's the same wolf as we saw earlier! I utter in panic. I turned around to flee out of fear, but I didn't notice a branch lying on the ground, and it was too late for me to avoid stepping on it because I had already done so.
