Evelyn Winter was almost in tears. "You're bullying a kid!"
"You're a kid?" Hannah said, "Have you ever seen a kid who's hundreds of years old?"
Evelyn let out a loud wail, ready to burst into tears.
Hannah said calmly, "If you start crying, I'll send you back on the streets to wander right now."
Evelyn's lips quivered in grievance, but he swallowed his tears, meekly accusing, "You have zero compassion. No empathy for the weak. What's the harm in coaxing me a little?"
How did he end up with this kind of caretaker?
He'd rarely won the lottery to transform into a human, and this was the treatment he got.
"If I had known, I wouldn't have become human."
Hannah, irritated by his whining, grabbed a handful of candy and shoved it into his arms. "Fine, I'll pamper you. Eat some sweets."
"You're so insincere." Despite saying that, Evelyn very honestly shoved the fruit candies into his mouth.
