"If you're tired, just sleep for a while. I'll wake you when we arrive."
He didn't say where they were going.
Hannah didn't ask either, just nodded, murmured softly, and closed her eyes.
She had no idea how long she slept, but when she woke in a daze, the car had already stopped.
It seemed they had arrived.
The passenger door was opened, and Arnold Simmons leaned in to gently lift her from the car.
Out of instinct, she snuggled into his embrace, her voice soft and husky from sleep, "Where are we?"
Arnold kissed her warm cheek and whispered, "We're home."
Hannah was stunned, not quite processing it yet.
Arnold smiled as he ruffled her hair, placing the key in her hand, "Go ahead and open the door."
The surrounding was silent, with trees planted along the road budding fresh shoots, a faint tender green. The night breeze carried a subtle floral scent, gently dispersing the clouds in the sky.
A full moon adorned the night sky.
