When facing the young Arnold, Hannah tried hard to make herself very well-behaved.
She was a little sun, there to warm Arnold's cold heart.
That's what Hannah told herself, and the smile on her face became gentler as a result.
In just those few seconds, Arnold saw a kind and benevolent expression emerge from the little girl's smile before him, just like an elder facing... a disobedient child.
"Let's eat the noodles first," he coughed lightly twice.
Hannah's face was smiling, obedient and cute, "Okay."
Both withdrew their gazes and lowered their heads.
But Arnold still subconsciously glanced up.
Across the table, he caught sight of the girl's curled eyelashes; the light-colored eyes beneath them were blurred by shadows, but it was still apparent she was smiling.
Boring and childish.
Arnold withdrew his gaze and silently chuckled.
It was a very pleasant lunch, and when they left, Hannah was still holding onto an ice cream she had eaten halfway through.
