Chapter 48 - Chapter 47 Sugar and Eggs

Before heading to Egg head King had to accompany Big Mom to Toto land. She was very much the unreasonable woman and since King could not yet defeat her head on he was here with her.

The sea winds of Totto Land smelled of strange sweets and subtle danger.

King stood upon the balcony of the massive tower that housed Whole Cake Chateau, the heart of Big Mom's empire. His wings flared slightly as his fire traced the air behind him, a restless signal. His mind was clouded—not with uncertainty, but urgency. The wedding in Wano would have to wait. He had a race to rebuild, a technology to unlock, and time was already working against him.

Behind him, the ornate double doors of the guest chamber creaked open.

"Still brooding, Lord King?" came the voice of Charlotte Galette, smooth as cream and twice as rich with confidence. Her high-waisted uniform clung tightly to her figure, crimson hair cascading down in thick waves. Her twin, Charlotte Poire beautiful even with her mouth full of shark teeth, stepped in beside her, more reserved in presence, but her amber eyes gleaming with keen curiosity.

King turned. The two daughters of Big Mom were formidable in their own right—Galette with her Butter Butter Fruit, a skilled combatant and tactician, and Poire a master of internal Totto Land logistics and operations.

"Your mother's terms are clear," King said, voice low. "And I will fulfill them. But time is limited."

Galette chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "You are a really hardcore man arent you, not a moment of rest.....you really are intense."

Poire stepped closer, hands folded in front of her. "We are not here to waste your time, King. We understand what's at stake—for both our families."

Galette gestured toward the velvet cushions surrounding the chamber's tea table, where fresh cake and tea steamed gently.

"Tonight is not for war," she said. "It's for trust."

The evening passed slowly but deliberately.

King, still armored but relaxed, spoke candidly with the two women about the rebuilding of the Lunarian people, as well as about the dangerous interest the World Government would soon take in him, an interest that could be inconvenient should he fail to prepare.

Galette and Poire, though once wary, grew more invested as they learned about the scientific edge King was chasing—not just strength, but his intellect and ambition made them feel more connected to the man they gave their bodies to....the father of their future children.

"You want more than power," Poire said finally, pouring a second glass of Wano sake. "You want legacy."

"Yes," King answered. "And once our alliance brings new powerful lunarian children into the world… then they will be protected by both of our names giving them time to grow."

Galette's smile was slow. 'This man is so unlike mama who only followws her desures, surely I can depend on him to save my life from mama and even escape her' she thought. "Then let us not waste time pretending we aren't part of something larger."

They each placed their hands atop his armored one. "We pledge to make this alliance work no matter what the cost". Solemnly the two Charlotte women made an oath, lookin into each other's eyes. A quiet agreement passed between them.

~Days Later~

A soft knock came at the door to King's temporary chamber in the Chateau.

"Lord King," a homie announced, "Big Mom requests your presence in the archive vault."

King followed the homie deep into the fortress, descending through candy-colored corridors and past humming walls of living doors and whispering paintings. Finally, the path opened into a vast chamber carved from hardened cake and obsidian.

At the center of the chamber, surrounded by Homie guards and several of Big Mom's trusted children, sat a massive, red, cubic Road Poneglyph.

The stone pulsed with mystery.

King's fire flared slightly in anticipation.

Two photo Den Den Mushi clicked from either side, snapping clean images of each side of the cube. A young Charlotte archivist nearby made careful etchings in a journal to accompany the imagery.

"This is not something Mother grants lightly," said Smoothie, who had appeared silently beside King. "But you've earned it… for now."

King gave a nod. He did not insult them with empty gratitude. Power respected power.

Then Big Mom arrived.

She was barefoot, carrying a medical container in one hand and her sword Napoleon in the other. Her eyes were narrowed, the smile on her lips laced with something rare: respect.

"Three days, and both my daughters report missed moons," she said. "Our deal is real."

"I never doubted it," King replied.

Big Mom drew a blade across her palm and watched calmly as crimson blood filled the glass cylinder. Prometheus hovered near, hissing approvingly.

King accepted the sealed container with a nod. 'That makes four samples. I'm halfway to a future'. Putting away the blood samples he glanced at big mom with a serious look on his face.

"About the last part of our deal, will you lend me your daughter Pudding? If I manage to awaken her three eyed race's ability then you will benefit as well".

"Mamamama!" Big Mom's laughter echoed through the archive.

"Take her you can even keep her if you want she can be your concubine King the Wildfire".

"She's but a child of 13, that is rather inappropriate" king retorted. "Mamama I did not say now, in three years time she can marry you and the alliance can become official. By that time your children will be three years old and can formally travel to Wano to learn from you".

"That's very thoughtful of you" King replied. 'Three years is enough time for you to brainwash them into being loyal to the Charlotte family, quite a cunning move for a giant tub of lard such as Big Mom, she's not to be underestimated.'

"Mamama remember who spared your life, granted your wishes and even gave you more than you deserved. You owe me a favor, you owe me your life." She chuckled viciously.

Departure

King soared high above Whole Cake Island as the sun dipped below the horizon. Charlotte Pudding clung to his arms in a princess carry with a bright smile, but her mind was full of dark thoughts. Her eyes unfocused from the unforseen events that had recently taken place.

Meanwhile shinobu clung to his back indignantly as her spot in kings arms had been claimed "Where to now?" she finally asked.

"Egghead," King replied. "It's time I met the man who plays God with science."

"And then back to Wano?"

King was silent for a moment. His eyes fixed on the east.

"No," he said. "Not until I finish building a world where my children will never have to bow their heads to another race again."

His wings flared widely and with a strong flap he was airborne, midnight black wings propelling them toward the horizon.

______________________________________________________________________

The skies above the Grand Line swirled with static and sea wind as King, the last Lunarian, descended like a black meteor onto Egghead Island—a place where science bent the laws of nature and knowledge flirted with forbidden.

Below him, the Labophase—the colossal, gleaming egg resting on an artificial island cloud—came into full view. White vapor curled around its base, support systems hissing with pressurized steam, solar panels gleaming like wings of steel.

King ignored the outer rings of Egghead, bypassing the Fabriophase entirely. He had no time for the lower-level research outposts or surveillance networks. Time was his enemy, and he was done treating it gently.

With Pudding in his arms and Shinobu on his back, wrapped in protective gear crafted from Wano's finest silk and sea stone threads, he shot directly toward the egg-shaped structure like a black comet trailing fire.

"W-we're skipping the entrance?!" Shinobu cried.

King didn't respond. He ignited a white-hot flame burst from his heels, blasting a clean hole through the transparent shielding dome of the Labophase.

Alarms screamed instantly.

Red lights stuttered to life across every surface, and voice homies embedded in the walls began to bark automated alerts.

"Warning: Unauthorized Entry Detected. Bio-signature Class—UNKNOWN. Threat Level: MAXIMUM. Mobilizing Pacifista Units."

Out of a compartment in the floor below, a set of sleek Pacifista prototypes rose. They were humanoid, metal-armored, and bearing unfinished Kuma-like visages, their shoulders bristling with Kairoseki-launchers and high-voltage emitters.

One of them locked onto King.

"Halt, intruder. Deadly force authorized."

The Pacifista fired.

King's eyes narrowed. His flaming wings erupted wide and he spun mid-air, dodging the beam, leaving afterimages behind. With Shinobu still clinging tight, he blasted forward, slicing through the next Pacifista with a single burning wing.

Its metal hide groaned and split, collapsing in a heap of sparking limbs.

"Wait!" a booming voice rang through the lab. "Stand down! All of you!"

From across the chamber, descending on an escalator that shimmered into existence from light particles, stood a short, wild-haired man wearing an apple on his head, surrounded by

And standing beside him, towering and silent, was none other than the heavily modified Bartholomew Kuma, his body seemingly human but now nearly complete with its brutal cybernetics, save for his face, which still retained his personality.

"Dr. Vegapunk," King said, landing hard on a floating platform. "I need your time."

Vegapunk's brows furrowed beneath his helmet.

"You barge into my sanctuary, damage two billion beri worth of hardware, and you expect tea and conversation?"

Alber, the last Lunarian, the so-called Headliner, the Wildfire and recently awakened transmigrator that held the fate of the Lunarian Race in his testicles—fearlessly faced off against a smally army of Robots, a group of clones and the greatest scientific mind of the era: Dr. Vegapunk.

Flanking the room were several silent watchers. Six persons of varying sizes from 6 feet to 5 meters—each marked with the words Punk-01 to Punk-06, all clones of Dr. Vegapunk.

Pudding even though she was Then there was Shinobu, adjusting to the sterile brightness, stood wide-eyed beside a collection of biotech tubes. The other was an enormous man, being 689 cm tall.

He was wearing white hat and dark blue pants that are covered in brown spots. His jacket contains a large white design reminiscent of a target crosshair or a coda sign. There are also several white paw prints lining the bottom hem of his coat. He also has a long protruding chin and in his hands he was carrying a Bible.

His hair is generally long and curly, and sometimes includes a pair of round protrusions resembling bear ears. He wears glasses with clear-mirrored lenses which cover his cybernetic eyes. He is a towering machine—Bartholomew Kuma, silent, statuesque, yet visibly alert.

Vegapunk leaned forward in his chair, sharp-eyed behind his visor. "You fly into my lab, destroy a third of my automated defenses, and now what? Expect me to give you a tour?"

King didn't answer immediately. Instead, he walked slowly, every bootstep ringing through the pristine lab.

"I don't come asking for War or problems, I actually come in peace," he said finally. "I come with a vision."

Vegapunk arched an eyebrow. "A vision?"

"I've seen the future."

He let the words hang.

Vegapunk paused, visibly intrigued despite himself.

King smiled beneath his mask. "You're a man obsessed with the world's truths, aren't you? The Void Century, the Ancients, the One Piece... There's a reason the World Government fears you. Because they know curiosity paired with brilliance is the one force they can't control."

Vegapunk didn't deny it. "And what do you see in this future of yours?"

"Fire," King said. "War. The enemy of the Celestial dragons setting captives free, the enemy fighting to liberate the World from tyranny. I see fire lighting up the skies and burned gods from their thrones."

He tapped his chest.

"With my help that future can be changed totally..."

Vegapunk leaned back in his chair, gaze narrowing.

"You want my research" he said cutting King off Midsentence.

King scoffed "In exchange for saving your life from certain death, I want a favor," King corrected. "A small one. Access to your cloning facilities, your in-vitro fertilization labs. I will provide genetic material—my own, and Shinobu's. All I ask is the chance to bring back a bloodline, the ally of Jobyboy of the past."

"And what makes you think I'd agree?"

King stepped closer.

"Because I know what you want. Not fame. Not wealth. But knowledge. You thirst for the unknown, don't you? You want to peer into the past and hold the ancient world in your hands. You want to know all about the void Century so You've studied it, what happened and their technology that is much more advanced than what we have today. The thing you lack the most is protection from the world government and that is what I can offer to you".

Vegapunk took a step back in shock, he had not expected his darkest secret to be spoken so casually! "Well well it seems you're not just bluffing, you do know a bit about me." Vegapunk took a deep breath and visibly calmed himself.

"I have already put measures in place, and I resolved myself to face death to reveal the truth of the past. Also I've mentally prepared myself a long time ago".

King looked down on the shorter Vegapunk with an appreciative smile. "That is good and well, but everyone knows that it is better to live and see something for yourself.

"Accept my help, I will protect you when the world Government comes. After all I'm sure none of your current inventions can stop a lone Admiral from the navy, much less a full buster call."

"Mecha Shark and the others a quite good at keeping the waters of egg head safe...." Vegeapunk said defensively. King smirked "Haha one Admiral Aokiji makes them sittingg ducks, Admiral Akainu would melt them into scrap metal, and your good friend Kizaru would just fly over them and bombard egg head directly!"

"........They wouldn't get rid of me so easily, I'm still working on something that is important to them." Vega Punk retorted.

"Hmmph let me tell you a sstory....There was a fishman in the city of Water 7, he was a brilliant shipwright. The best of the best in fact, but Tom had a problem....Tom built the ship of the pirate king Roger and because of that he was sentenced to death. Tom had a brilliant plan to make a water train that would revolutionize travel and make travelling to other islands safe and efficient."

"So Tom got a stay of execution to build the train it took 10 long years but Tom completed the train and all was well....Tom was pardoned. B ut it doesnt end there Tom had another problem the Government suspected him of having the blueprints for the Ancient weapon Pluton.....long story short without any evidence they framed Tom and he died." King uttered solemnly.

"You cut the story short! Did he have the blueprints or not?" Vegapunk Lilith cut in. King smiled pointedly "It doesn't matter whether he had the blueprints or not, once the government suspects you of having forbidden knowledge then you better say your last respects and wait for execution if you are not a top tier power that has the strength to resist."

"Sigh...I know that much, I've simply resigned myself to my fate and hope to do as much good as I can while I'm here." said Vegapunk in a quiet voice.

"You're smart enough to know the Government doesn't leave loose ends lying around. Anyways back to my offer, My protection as a last line of Defense in exchange for use of your cloning facilities." King pulled out several Vials of blood marked king's blood. "This is a bonus."

With jaw dropping shock Vegapunk's hands twitched. "You'd offer your DNA willingly?"

"On one condition. Help me scientifically birth some children—true Lunarians. I am too impatient to wait on natural births. It is my responsibility to ensure the survival of my race as the last known member of my kind. I want it to be as efficient as possible with a process I call In-vitro fertilization. Facilitating the ferilization of the child artificially. Use Shinobu's egg cells— and combine them with my sperm and remove any human lineage factors, so the child will be a pure Lunarian."

King gestures to the laband then Shinobu and Pudding."We can then use the cloning chambers as artificial wombs....my Shinobu herecan mature the fertilized embryo to ten years' biological age. Then Pudding will give them memories of childhood. ."

A long silence followed.

Then Vegapunk stood slowly.

"…You're insane."

"Perhaps."

"Insanely ambitious! I cant believe that I didn't recognize such a simple application of cloning technology, I was too caught up in splicing and combining genetic factors of adults for clones that I overlooked artificial womb applications....sigh.... I admire vision. You've appealed to my curiosity and are freely giving your DNA...I accept your deal!" he said excitedly.

He turned to a nearby terminal. "Fine. Three embryos. Three subjects. I'll assign Punk-03 Edison to supervise the growth and monitor mutations. Shinobu will remain here to assist. I'll prepare the chambers."

King inclined his head once. "Then we have an accord."

Cloning Chamber

The lab's automated arms moved with eerie precision. Cybernetic arms handling the sperm sample that king just gave operated in a sterile environment. King's Lunarian DNA and Shinobu's egg cells merged under the guidance of machines centuries beyond the current world's comprehension.

In a circular tank of glowing blue fluid, something began to grow.

'Finally after 30 plus years in one life and 40 plus in another, I will finally become a father' King thought. "Soon my children will see the light of day" King said determinedly watching from behind the glass.

Vegapunk said nothing, but he made sure that the entire process from the beginning to end was being recorded.

Shinobu placed a hand over the chamber, a mixture of awe and disbelief in her eyes.

"I'll stay," she said quietly. "I'll wait until the process is done and then I will help this child, help our child grow. Go ahead and do what you have to do my King."

King nodded and walked away.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Later that night, King found Kuma alone on the observation deck.

The cyborg stood still, eyes focused on the stars—watching, perhaps, for something long gone.

"She's suffering, you know," King said.

Kuma didn't respond.

"Your daughter. Jewelry Bonney. You've tried sending her letters, but the Cipher Pol censors everything. She thinks you abandoned her."

A twitch ran through Kuma's mechanical jaw.

"I know where she is. I can reach her. I can protect her."

Now Kuma turned, slightly.

"She's been under surveillance for two years now. Never gets far without being followed. If you sent a message, they'd intercept it. But with your powers… You could send me to her."

He stepped closer.

"Let me deliver your words. Let me tell her the truth. I'll guard her if I have to.....If I take her with me you wouldn't need to sacrifice your mind you know"

Kuma remained stoic and silent. "I see what your future is, I would advise you to let me cure her, you can put your life in my hands.....at least I'll leave your personality in tact".

Kuma's hand moved slowly, a transparent glowing paw print started to form in front of his palm.

"I will send you to South Blue," Kuma said, voice slow and mechanical but filled with rare emotion. "To an island in a central location. We meet again in nine days. I will wait for your return."

King shook his head "Three days is enough, deduct the travel time and meet me three days after I've arrived". Kuma nodded and swiftly struck king with the paw shaped bubble.

The bubble compressed and in the blink of an eye king vanished.
