Lucas scratched his signature on one last page before throwing on his cloak. He glared at the office that was still in need of repair. The doors had been repaired just enough to secure the room once more, but everything would need to be replaced. An old table had been brought in to serve as a makeshift desk, and he had spent the last hour signing meaningless papers that were keeping the duchy at a standstill.
The worst part was that it had been days since he had dispatched the Council and weeks since he had laid eyes on Eva and their children. He had received one report they had made it to the Capital, but she had still not awoken. The report came with a declaration of her adoption. But he still worried about her condition.
