Eva widened her eyes in surprise once they entered the gardens of the estate. When they had left for the fire mountain, the gardens had been bare. The garden was newly planted, and no life had sprouted from it. Yet the garden was in full bloom, and even the hedges had grown to what felt like an impossible height. She wondered if such a thing were possible.
Her hands trailed across flower petals still wet with dew, and a slight mist still clung to the garden. A myriad of colors danced in the wind. A stone pathway led them to a small courtyard with a stone table and chairs set up.
"Do you like it?" Lucas asked hesitantly. Eva's silence made him unsure of whether she liked the garden. It wasn't a forest, but he had heard many nobles created such spaces for their enjoyment.
"It is beautiful, but how…?" She stared around the courtyard in bewilderment. "How did it grow so quickly?"
