Chapter 51 - In the end... I?

A gentle gust of wind blew as Alina's glossy black hair fluttered gently behind her back, her beautiful violet eyes that seemed to sparkle like the most beautiful amethyst.

She narrowed her eyes as she stared warily at the god of earth, who stood still with his back strengthened despite the appearance of Alina with the expression that implicitly states, "I'm in control."

With a graceful motion of her beautiful angelic wings, she slowly lowered her altitude, stopping next to Lincoln.

"Cough, H-How is master?" He questioned, as he coughed out a mouthful of blood. Meanwhile, Alina looked at him with worried eyes. Fresh blood could be seen coming from the crevice of his broken armour, and, even worse, the right side of his face was bleeding profusely.

"Idiot, don't speak, your organs are most likely damage. Master is fine... I think. But let me attend to your injuries." Alina said as she gently placed her hand on Lincoln's body.

"Heavenly cure." She mumbled.

Soon, Lincoln felt something coursing through his injured body as his broken bones started to heal rapidly. Alina narrowed her eyes as she noticed that his shattered ribs were taking a long time to heal.

'Holy bullets.' She chanted internally.

Hundreds of magic formations were formed high in the sky as countless light bullets were suspended in the air. Since healing him would take a while, she needed to be prepared in case of an attack.

However, "..." To her surprise, Charles or the stone golem made no suspicious movements. Instead, Charles's eyes seemed to glow subtly as he tried to perceive what was happening inside the domain that seemed to be a combination of 'Life and death', but, 'Tch, damn it. Still nothing, that woman is blocking my senses.' He thought.

He was really filled with the urge to destroy that thing, but doing so was almost impossible. The damage it would cause to the surroundings was not something that could be fixed within a few years. He also knew the consequences of angering the goddess of life, contrary to her title or the 'Gentle' persona she put on; only those who really know her know how scary she is when she is angered.

Soon, the image of the fate of the gods who had tried to woo her in the past shot through his head.

Even Hendrix, the god of death, would be beaten if he ever disobeyed her. Her form of punishment could only be called "Cruel" Even her own brother, whom she claimed to love more than anything, isn't spared.

..... Yes, their peculiar brother-sister relationship could only be called. Incongruous.

It was an unspoken rule: Never anger the goddess of life, Isis. Otherwise, only 'Despair' And 'Anguish' Awaited you. Soon, the idea of destroying the subspace created by Isis instantly vanished from Charles's head like an evanescent dream.

"Sigh, it seems I'll have to wait until they're done. The aura of death is getting weaker and weaker. It seems I won't have to wait long," Charles said.

He scratches his head, 'Shit, what exactly are we going to do with that boy? Even if we overlook his deeds, there is no telling when he would once again try something like this.... but if we kill him, the chances of those guys from up above might find out is very likely.' Charles thought.

The biggest problem is that no one other than Hendrix can control the cycle of reincarnation, and the probability of a god in the near future awakening the divinity of death is unlikely.

And also, the goddess of life, Isis, would never allow anyone to kill her own brother.

... Sigh.

Charles sighed heavily. "I'm getting too old for this shit." He muttered to himself as he ruffled his short, messy black hair.

'Mhm?' Charles suddenly turned his head towards Alina and Lincoln, who seemed to have recovered.

Honestly, he had completely forgotten their existence while he was lost in thought. The two took on a battle stance as they prepared themselves to face the god of Earth. However, Charles looked at them indifferently.

ROOOOOOAR!

The stone golem roared furiously. It was still angry about its severed arm, as it glared at Alina with visible hatred within its yellow eyes. Alina made a single gesture with her flawless white hands, and as if following her command, the countless light bullets suspended in the sky moved rapidly, closing the distance to the god of earth.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh...!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The light bullets collided with the stone golem's hard body as it moved to protect Charles, who stood calmly with his hands inside his pockets. Each time a light bullet made a direct hit onto its rock-hard body, a loud sound echoed as a small dent that kept getting bigger appeared on its body.

Meanwhile, as the stone golem was shielding Charles, Lincoln moved swiftly, closing the distance with the unprotected body of the stone golem. Once he was at a good enough distance, he smoothly leapt high into the air with his sword braced.

Sensing the danger coming its way, the golem looked up, seeing the body of the fallen Lincoln slowly approaching it, while protecting Charles from the barrage of light bullets. It swung its arm as though getting rid of an annoying fly.

However, upon seeing the arm coming his way, Lincoln skilfully evaded it by moving to the left and, while tightly holding onto the hilt of his sword, swung it downwards with a vertical slash.

SWOOSH!

THUD!

The detached arm of the stone golem fell to the ground heavily as Lincoln's sword drew a beautiful arc in the air. However, that wasn't his real intention. While still falling in the air, he thrust his sword through the head of the stone golem.

ROOOOOOOAR!

The golem let out a scream as Lincoln's sword sank deeper and deeper into its head.

BOOOOM!

Its body exploded outwards as the shadow inside its body destroyed its stone body. Soon, its body crumbled away and fell apart dramatically.

"!!!" A small gust of wind blew, and Alina moved past Lincoln, closing in on the god of earth with her golden spear clutch tightly in her hands.

Soon the runes on her spear glow subtly as she thrust it forward, aiming at Charles heart, but.... "....?!" Before it could reach him, Charles skilfully caught the golden spear with his hands as he gazed into the violet eyes of Alina, ".... Guh, cough." Alina coughed out a mouthful of blood as her armour broke apart. Charles fist landed directly into her chest, sending her flying backwards, but…

"Heavenly spear..." She weakly muttered as her body was being sent backwards.

".... ?!" Suddenly, a white spear materialises midair behind Charles, moving at blinding speed.

Sensing the danger, he promptly reached out his hand, and as though it had a mind of its own, the axe that was left on the ground moved through the air instantly appearing inside Charles hand.

BANG!

He skilfully blocked the spear of light as it kept itself suspended midair, but...

BANG!

The spear of light exploded in his face, sending his godly body flying from the force.

Not missing his chance, Lincoln moved through the shadows, arriving behind the body of Charles. Without missing a beat, he swung his sword horizontally sideways!

Swoosh!

Just when the blade of the sword was about to pierce Charles's body, he tactfully used his hand to block the blade; only a small, almost imperceptible cut could be seen.

Seeing the golden blood running down his arm, Charles frowned. Was his body wounded? Again? And by a mortal no less....

.... Impossible!

He clenched his fist in fury!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

A powerful shockwave exploded outwards from his body as Lincoln's body was sent flying. Alina was also blown away by the shockwave!

Charles' axe glowed strongly as though responding to his fury. Charles flew into the air as his usual dark coloured eyes took on a golden hue, and he glared down from the sky.

His short black hair seemed to have ignored gravity as it started moving on its own, as though it had free will.

Feeling the changes in the god's aura, both Lincoln and Alina became more alert. Alina's body shook visibly; it was as if she were standing before a giant mountain, and it was impossible to see the peak.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was doing his best to keep his composure, this feeling.... he only ever got this type of feeling when he was facing his master, the 'God of death', and even then, Hendrix was holding back, the person before him wasn't!

"Foolish mortals, for injuring my body, I sentence you.... one billion years of imprisonment. Now turn to stone." His voice was filled with divine power, a power that no one could ignore, let alone refuse... as though responding to his orders, the soil began to move, as though responding to his anger. Before Lincoln or Alina could do anything, their entire body froze as they noticed they had lost the sensation of their feet. Looking down, they saw it.

Their feet had turned to stone through the laws of earth; it was impossible to resist. It spread quickly as they also lost the sensation in their hands and soon their neck.

'Shit', Lincoln cursed, but it was too late; their fates were already decided instantly.

'M-Master... I have to... In the end... I' Was the last thought in Lincoln's mind as his consciousness fell into the abyss.
